New movie alert, and this one already sounds like a fun holiday watch. Great American Media has announced An Accidental Arctic Christmas, which reunites fan favorites Cameron Mathison (Drew, General Hospital) and Jill Wagner.
The film is set to premiere as part of the 2026 Great American Christmas lineup across Great American Pure Flix, Great American Family, and GFAM+.
A Holiday Plan That Goes Off Track
In An Accidental Arctic Christmas, Mathison plays Jim, a single dad and former major league baseball player turned broadcaster. He shares a unique holiday tradition with his 20-year-old daughter Isla, played by Maya Rose Skabar. Each year, one of them gets to decide how they spend Christmas.
This time, it is Isla’s turn.
Instead of Jim’s usual Christmas Eve broadcast from Times Square, she convinces him to take a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic cruise, promising they will make it back in time. Of course, things do not go as planned.
A timing mix-up leaves them stranded in a remote Arctic town after their ship leaves without them, turning their holiday into something completely unexpected.
An Adventure in the Arctic
With no easy way home, Jim and Isla have to rely on Jane, a wildlife conservationist played by Wagner, to help them navigate the frozen landscape.
From riding through the tundra in a buggy to taking in the Northern Lights and visiting the Polar Bear Capital of the World, the journey becomes more than just a detour.
A Big Holiday Lineup
The film also ties into a bigger holiday slate for Candace Cameron Bure, who executive produces the project.
This marks her third film in the 2026 lineup. She is also starring in Home Sweet Anniversary alongside Mathison, continuing the Home Sweet franchise, as well as One More Christmas with Jonathan Scarfe.
An Accidental Arctic Christmas is currently filming in Canada and is produced by Magic Motion Media in association with CandyRock Entertainment, with a full team behind the scenes bringing the story to life.
