What a year it has been? Thanks to the ardent soap writers for giving us some juicy storylines to watch and to the actors who did justice to the material. With decades of soap history, 2021 is one to talk about. Which soap did we crown as the best of 2021? Read below!

The Young and the Restless:

It was a crazy year filled with some shocking shake-ups, recasting and more. The writers gave us much to watch but our favorite storyline of the year for this show would probably be Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) faking her illness to get back at Adam (Mark Grossman). All in all, we had much to pay attention from the make-ups to break-ups and the love in the afternoon. Let’s not forget Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) and Summer’s (Hunter King) love story sadly our grading for this soap dropped because one of the best pairings on the show is no more.

The Bold and the Beautiful:

Another soap with some big returns this year! The highlight of the year for this soap would probably be the return of Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and then Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan). It was a usual year of love triangles. And, the best of them all was Quinn (Rena Sofer) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). The chemistry between these two is undeniable.

General Hospital:

Shocking exits, shake-ups, baby secrets and more happened this year on General Hospital. The biggest highlight in the casting department for this show this year was Nicholas Chavez as Spencer Cassadine. The casting department also did a great job recasting Cameron Mathison as Drew Cain and Charles Shaughnessy as Victor Cassadine. We wee probably most in love with the story surrounding Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny aka Mike (Maurice Benard) for this year.

Days of Our Lives:

We saved the best for last! Our crown for best daytime soap opera of 2021 goes to none other than Days of Our Lives. A big thumbs up to the writing crew for their hard work this year. Of course, our favorite storyline for 2021 is the possession 2.0. Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) killed every performance as MarDevil. Who said, you couldn’t do it twice and get an amazing result? It was like the show didn’t forget to include the soapy drama; there were secrets, love in the afternoon, affairs, kidnappings, and so much more. The entire cast and crew were superb this year. It’s no wonder we had to select this show as the best for 2021!
