The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful have been playing the Red Rover game for decades. Several characters/actors have played, such as Shelia Carter (Kimberlin Brown), Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman), Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell).
With the announcement that Bryton James and “Devon Hamilton Winters” was headed for a visit on CBS’s newest soap Beyond the Gates, the question dangled. Is Beyond the Gates entering the CBS Red Rover game? In the future, could they pitch, “Red Rover, Red Rover send Bryton James AKA Devon right over?”
And with Devon’s birth last name being Hamilton, you can’t help but wonder if he is related to Bill Hamilton (Timon Durrett, Beyond the Gates).
Devon in Genoa City
Hamilton is Devon’s birth last name by his biological mother, Yolanda “Harmony” Hamilton (Chene Lawson). And yes, Devon knows and has a relationship (for better or for worse at times) with his biological parents, still, he is Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Dru’s (Victoria Rowell) son. He is a Winters. Period.
It’s been over twenty years since Devon came to Genoa City as a “parentless” and troubled teen. And now Devon and James are leading men in daytime. Devon is a bona fide major player in Genoa City and is a rich and successful music and business mogul. Since the passing of “Neil Winters” and the tragic passing of our beloved, Kristoff, Devon has firmly planted himself as the Black Prince of daytime.
So, what about the Prince moving? With Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) positioning himself to take over GC, could now be the time for Devon to get a new castle, in the DMV area, one Beyond the Gates?
Dani Dupree Beyond the Gates
Dani has only recently joined our daytime family, but Karla Mosley has been our fam for a long time (Guiding Light, The Bold and the Beautiful). And it has not taken us long to love Dani as much as we love Mosley. Dani lights up the screen! She should have a fire on-screen pairing. So, there is Bill. Next. Andre (Sean Freeman) could be the one, but he keeps yo-yoing back and forth between Dani and Ashley (Jen Jacob). So, Dani needs to keep her options open, wide open.
Devon and Dani
Devon and Dani’s interaction on Beyond the Gates wasn’t even 30 seconds long, but when there is that much popping, it doesn’t take long to see the potential. Could they work as a couple? They for sure look good together, and we saw the color coordination. Nice. Dani’s flash is the ideal contrast to Devon’s laid-back charm. Both of them have money. That’s always a plus.
And we must add that it’s been a minute since we’ve had an upcoming African American “super couple” planted on screen. Devon surely knows a thing or two (Hilary/Amanda, Mishael Morgan) about those. Plus, remember that time when Mosley stepped in as a temporary Amanda Sinclair recast?
Who knows what the future may hold? But we sure caught the look Dani gave Devon as he walked away…We sure did. Those two are intriguing!
