After 14 years, Chad Duell is leaving General Hospital and the role of Michael Corinthos. Duell shared on his Instagram that, though it was a tough choice, the decision to move on was his own.
Taking to Instagram with a photo alongside a few of his GH colleagues, he wrote, “After many incredible years with General Hospital, I’ve decided to step away from the show. This wasn’t an easy decision for me, but it feels like the right time in my life. I’m beyond grateful to Frank Valentini, the cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me throughout this amazing journey.”
Of course his announcement included a message for his beloved fans. “To all the fans: thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering support and for letting Michael Corinthos be a part of your lives. Your love and encouragement has meant the world to me.”
Duell added that this is not a goodbye but rather, “I’s a see you later.”
Chad Duell made his debut as Michael Corinthos on April 20, 2010, and his exceptional portrayal has not gone unnoticed. Duell received nominations for the prestigious Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2011, 2012, and 2014, ultimately winning the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2015. Prior to Duell, the character was portrayed by Dylan Cash (2002–2008) and Drew Garrett (2009–2010), with Robert Adamson stepping in occasionally for Duell. While there has been no news regarding a recast or Duell’s final airdate, his character is currently embroiled in high-stakes drama, facing betrayal from his wife, a battle for Aurora, and the potential that Sasha could be pregnant with his child.
