Bruce French, best known for playing Father Lonigan on Passions, died at the age of 79. Per a report from The Hollywood Reporter, French died of complications from Alzheimer’s on February 7 in Los Angeles—his wife of 34 years, Eileen Barnett (who is also a longtime Days of Our Lives actress), told the outlet.

Bruce French, an Iowa native, had an extensive acting career with roles in theater, film, and television. His credits include guest-starring roles on shows like Ally McBeal, L.A. Law, Ally McBeal, and more.

Passions fans would remember him for his recurring role on the show. He played the well-known Harmony resident priest on the entire nine-season run of Passions.

    He was an incredible man. I had the opportunity to work with him for 3 yrs on Passions. I would stay with him when we would have breaks because he had the contacts in his eyes and I didn’t want to leave him alone. His work will live on.
