After many, many years fans saw her last week as she reprised her role as Serena Baldwin in some very emotional scenes on ‘General Hospital’ and it’s no doubt that they would love for Carly Shroeder to permanently reprise her role on the ABC daytime sudser. Schroeder started out on ‘Port Charles’ and ‘General Hospital’ at a young age back in 1997. She remained on ‘Port Charles’ until 2003 as a contract player, however on ‘GH’ she played the recurring role from 1997 – 2001. Fans were given an awesome treat and a blast from the past when Serena Baldwin, Lucy [Lynn Herring] and Scott’s [Kin Shriner] daughter visited her parents last week on the show. Soap Opera Intel got the chance to talk with Schroeder who dished on her soap opera experience, her hope to return full time, other projects and more – read the full interview below!
Carly: I was really young. I started when I was 6. But I do remember enjoying being on set. Everyone was accepting of a 10 year old at the studio trying to blend in with the adults. I had to mature quickly but it was a fantastic experience. It taught me how to act better than any acting class ever could!
Carly: It really isn’t difficult doing emotional scenes when you trust your fellow actors. The scenes had emotion because of Kin, Lynn and it’s chemistry. Our chemistry is because of our history and our history makes for better storytelling.
Carly: I would love to have more scenes with Kin and Lynn. I love General Hospital and I love the fans.
Carly: Grandma Gail (Susan Brown) is a grandma to me on and off set. Easter, graduations… I love my GH family.
Carly: I would like Serena to have a hot love interest. She loves her dad so maybe she helps him out of trouble. Or gets into trouble with him. Who knows!
Carly: Sibling rivalry? Ha. Serena will always be daddy’s little girl, AND the favorite. Haha
Carly: None that I can speak about at this moment
Carly: Haha I haven’t been recognized in a long time. But when I was younger I was always happy to meet people who were excited to meet me.
Carly: It’s a killer movie about a cult based in Idyllwild, CA. I play one of the girls in the cult. It was fun to play bad. I’m never the bad girl. Had a great time filming with the girls and Blake Reigal is an incredible director; expect great things from him in the near future.
Carly: I have a few sports modeling shoots booked. I’ve started weapons training with Dynamic Defense Inc, Blue Force Gear and Team Wendy for an upcoming project as well. I plan to spend a few weeks on a road trip through the Pacific Northwest rock climbing with my pup and doing some off roading in our Jeep. Gotta keep things balanced.
