The Young and the Restless viewers’ hearts are breaking this week as they watch Courtney Hope’s character, Sally Spectra, and Mark Grossman’s Adam Newman mourn the death of their daughter.
Adam was placed in a horrible position choosing between saving Sally or the baby. As Sally woke up and learned the truth, she struggled to come to terms with it. Hope has been slaying this plot with gut-wrenching performances one after the other. Fans have written to both Hope and Grossman praising their work throughout this storyline. Hope responded to fans’ messages on Instagram, saying, “To everyone that has lost a child, in whatever capacity, my heart is with you. I know these last few days have been heavy to watch. The thousands of messages I’ve received from you guys, sharing your stories, makes my heart full with gratitude to witness your openness and strength through one of the most difficult things one could go through in life. I’ve witnessed many loved ones lose their children at different stages of pregnancy and life, including my parents with the loss of my brother and I know it is something that changes your world forever, But I hope you guys know you’re not alone and your story matters.“
Hope went on to tell her fans how much she adores them. “I love you all,” she began, adding, “Your vulnerability and transparency have profound healing powers and it’s been beautiful to witness the conversations between each and every one of you as you share your history through loss, grief and the journey forward.” And she couldn’t end without showing appreciation for her amazing co-stars, Grossman and Joshua Morrow (Nick): “I also have to say, I’m grateful to work with these men. I couldn’t ask for better companions through this story.” Be sure to watch ‘Y&R’ weekdays on CBS to see what happens next. (Photo: CBS)
