Today’s episode of Days of Our Lives, which was released on August 19, saw Johnny representing himself in court, Julie making a big move, Chanel being cross-examined, and the reveal of who EJ’s shooter really is.
Julie Makes a Big Move
The episode began with Marlena and Rachel visiting the bookstore. Foster, the owner, queried what type of book she likes, whether books on chickens or other things, but Rachel notes that she likes snakes.
So Foster got her a book that would interest her. He even told her that the book tells a story of a young girl who somehow had memories tucked away in her brain.
Meanwhile, Marlena and Julie got some time to catch up. Julie wasted no time venting about her dislike for Cat Greene. She even referred to her as thin and obnoxious! Julie understood that it must be a rough time for Marlena and her family, considering the events going on at Johnny’s trial.
The two also commiserated over the loss of their husbands before Julie proceeded to express her interest in buying the bookstore. Something she referred to in the past tense. Julie felt like she might make a mess of the establishment. But Marlena didn’t see it that way. In fact, she encouraged Julie to go after. Later, Julie approached Foster and inquired if he had received any bids for the place. He didn’t, so Julie told him that she was interested. He was ecstatic to hear this!
Johnny Clears Chanel’s Name
Over in the courtroom, Belle called Chanel back to the stand to cross-examine her. Chanel stood her ground and insisted that she never said those things in the video that was played in court. She never threatened her father-in-law.
Later, Belle called Johnny to the stand. With his expertise in filmmaking, he was able to point out that the video of his wife was doctored. He noted that his grandfather, Stefano DiMera, was a master at these things, and he taught his children well. Johnny also mentioned that he was able to contact a top AI analyst who was able to confirm that the video was a deep fake. The pixels were off, the sound was off, and even his wife’s hand movements.
The judge called a quick recess before closing statements were made. When the trial resumed, Belle made her statement, and Johnny insisted that he was innocent. He noted that more than enough people had reason to want to shoot his father at that time.
Chad and Cat Bond
Elsewhere, Cat and Chad were over the moon that they had fully recovered from their illness. Their fevers were gone, and they finally felt revived. Chad was excited to be going home to see his kids finally. Cat mentioned that her mom was being transferred to a facility near Salem, while her brother Aaron, is moving back to town.
She then received a call from Marlena, who told her that she was going on an indefinite leave of absence, which means Cat would be out of a job. Cat told Chad the news, and he thought about getting her hired at The Spectator. However, Cat didn’t think it was a good idea, considering how Jack and Jennifer feel about her.
Rachel Is EJ’s Shooter
Marlena and Rachel enter the DiMera mansion. Rachel becomes distracted by an ornament and begins playing with it. Marlena told her to put it down because it’s glass, but Rachel refused. EJ took notice and flashed back to the night of his shooter, where Rachel was pointing a gun at him. He begged her to give him the gun, but she didn’t.
She told him she wouldn’t until he told her where her grandma was. Rachel approached him, the gun went off, EJ got shot, a glass shattered, and in real time, so did the ornament Rachel was playing with. “Oh my God!” EJ utters as he finally remembers who shot it.
