We previously reported that Leo Howard had joined the cast of Yellowjackets for season four, and now we have even more post-Days of Our Lives news for the talented actor! Howard is set to star in a brand-new series titled Love Comes Softly, which is slated to premiere in 2027.
Howard is set to exit the Peacock soap opera in the near future. However, due to the show’s far-advanced taping schedule, he actually wrapped his time on set months ago alongside three other stars—Raven Bowens (Chanel), Carson Boatman (Johnny), and Ashley Puzemis (Holly)—after being let go.
Love Comes Softly is based on the beloved novel series by Janette Oke (the author behind When Calls the Heart) and has already officially kicked off production. The series will stream exclusively on UP Faith & Family starting in 2027.
A Packed Cast and Frontier Drama
Zak Steiner leads the cast as A.J. Davis, while The Bold and the Beautiful favorite Sophia Paras (Kelly Spencer) stars as his daughter, Emily Davis. Meanwhile, Leo Howard will be taking on the role of town physician Richard Bain!
Joining them in the ensemble are Ryann Bailey as Sarah Chandler and Maya Herzog as Jessie Davis, along with Aaron Nadjiwon, Natalie Ceballos, Josh Cooke, Levi Mynatt, Tunisha Hubbard, and Pooch Hall rounding out the cast.
Set in the 1880s, the story follows the Davis family as they relocate to Rock Springs following the tragic death of A.J.’s wife. Determined to provide a loving and stable home for his daughter Emily and those around them, A.J. navigates new beginnings, romance, and the daily challenges of frontier life. The project is being produced by LCS Productions in association with Larry Levinson Productions.
Leo Howard Celebrates the New Chapter
Taking to Instagram to share the exciting milestone, Howard posted: “Well guys, this is what I’ve been doing the last however many months. Looking forward to sharing it with you all.”
An official last airdate for Howard’s final scenes as Tate Black on Days of Our Lives has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates as they come!
