Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on August 15, 2023: Abe tries to take back his job as Mayor. Chanel confides in Paulina. Johnny confesses his feelings for Chanel. Dimitri’s honeymoon doesn’t go as planned. 

Days of Our Lives Episode Recap August 15, 2023: Johnny Confides In Marlena

Steve finds Abe watching Body & Soul and they talk about Abe’s plans to return to work. Steve thinks it is too soon and Abe seems to start to have some doubts himself but when Paulina shows up and Steve tells her that Abe is reconsidering, Abe bristles at that and tells Steve that he is going through with his plan. Marlena and Kayla talk about their concerns for Abe around his returning to work too soon.

Abe and Paulina go to the Square where the acting mayor is having a press conference. Abe confronts him and tells him that he is taking back his office. He also demands Clint’s letter of resignation be on his desk by the end of the day. Clint refuses to resign and questions Abe’s ability to do the job. He goads him into taking questions from the press and it doesn’t go well. Kayla gets home and Steve tells her that he tried to talk Abe out of going forward but couldn’t. Marlena arrives and tells them that it didn’t go well for Abe.

In Iceland, Gwen happily makes plans for her and Dimitri while he worries about not hearing from Leo. Gwen goes downstairs to check on their tickets for the things she wants them to do that day and Leo arrives. Dimitri is thrilled to see him and they kiss. When they hear Gwen coming back, Leo hides while Dimitri convinces her that he is ill and should stay at the hotel but that she should go ahead with the plans she was looking forward to. Gwen is reluctant but Dimitri wears her down and she leaves. Dimitri and Leo make love but when Leo opens the door to leave, Gwen is on the other side.

Chanel confesses to Paulina that she still has feelings for Talia and might want to give things a real try. Paulina is against it because of how much Talia hurt her but knows Chanel can make up her own mind. Johnny runs into Talia outside of the Pub and confronts her about Chanel. Talia tells him that her feelings are sincere and promises she won’t do anything that hurts her again. They call a truce. 

Johnny talks to Marlena about his feelings for Chanel and she encourages him to talk to Chanel about it. Talia goes to see Chanel and is honest and open about her feelings for her. Chanel is hesitant but agrees to give her another chance as long as they take things slow. Johnny arrives just in time to hear them planning a date through the door.
