Spoilers for Days of Our Lives on August 23, 2023: Ava’s reliability is called into question. Tripp and Wendy ponder a big decision. The validity of Dimitri’s marriage is questioned. Gwen interrupts an intimate moment.
Days of Our Lives Episode Recap August 23, 2023: The Honeymoon’s Over!
Harris sees Ava reading and calls her name to get her attention. She’s happy to see him and they talk about her visit with Tripp. Harris is happy to hear that it went well and Ava is hopeful for more visits in the future. She tells him that she feels like Tripp is the one thing she did right. Ava talks to Harris about having to take accountability for Susan’s death and Harris tries to tell her that it wasn’t her fault. He tells her about his therapy and how he feels that it’s helping him and they continue to connect. Ava tells Harris that she feels that she is getting better and then starts to scream when she sees Susan Banks standing there.
Wendy finds Tripp in the kitchen and they talk about how neither of them could sleep because Li and Melinda were having very loud sex all night. Tripp teases Wendy about her brother having sex and then admits that he’s jealous because he wishes it was them. Wendy admits she is too and they kiss. Wendy suggests that they get together after work and make plans for a romantic night together where they won’t be interrupted. Tripp agrees and goes to take a cold shower before work.
Gabi and Stefan finish making love and she checks her phone and finds out Victor died. Stefan asks why she cares because they didn’t get along and she says he was Sonny’s family and always treated Arianna well. She switches topics and tells him that they have to figure out what Kristen is up to. They talk about what she found out from Rachel and decide to work together to figure it out.
Downstairs, Kristen is reading the news about Victor and remembering when she tried to kill him. She’s not sad that he’s dead. The doorbell rings and she answers it and finds a man looking for Dimitri. She invites him in and he introduces himself as Elliot Roth, the barrister for the Van Leischner family trust. He is there to deliver the first installment of Dimitri’s inheritance to him.
Kristen tries to get him to leave the check with her but he says he has to be sure the marriage is actually valid. Kristen offers to vouch since she was at the wedding but he needs to talk to Dimitri. Gabi and Stefan come downstairs and Kristen lies, saying he is the headmaster of Rachel’s new private school. She ushers Elliot out quickly and tells him that Gabi is a gold digger and can’t know about Dimitri’s money.
Kristen promises Elliot that Dimitri will be home soon and he tells her that he will be waiting at the Salem Inn. She goes back inside and Stefan asks about Rachel’s new school. Kristen asks where Gabi is and Stefan tells her that she left to run an errand. At the Salem Inn, Elliot enters his room as Gabi lurks in the hall, wondering who he really is.
Gwen comes into the hotel room and finds Dimitri exercising. She is happy that he is feeling better and he credits rest and her loving attention. She suggests that they go to the lava fields like they had earlier planned and he remembers his tryst with Leo and suggests they invite him along. Gwen thinks he is being very sweet and appreciates it.
Leo shows up and is surprised Gwen is there so he covers by pretending to be sad about Victor’s death. Gwen does her best to comfort him and leaves to get ice cream to cheer him up. After she is gone, Leo and Dimitri mess around until Dimitri gets a call from Kristen telling him about Elliot and saying that he has to get home. When Gwen gets back, Dimitri tells her that they have to leave immediately to go back to Salem.
