Days of Our Lives is making another major change behind the scenes. According to a report from Daytime Confidential, Ryan Quan, who has been writing for General Hospital, is headed back to the Peacock soap opera. As many know, Quan spent many years at Days of Our Lives before he was hired at GH.

Quan is reportedly taking over as co-head writer alongside Jeanne Marie Ford, a position made vacant when Paul Cwikly retired.

The show has seen multiple changes behind the scenes over the years. And according to recent buzz on X (formerly Twitter), fans of the soap were actually looking forward to Quan’s return.

In fact, one fan wrote, “No disrespect to the current head writers but Ryan Quan should have unequivocally and immediately taken the reins of Head Writer upon Ron’s exit. He paid his dues. Ryan knows the show inside and out and has a genuine fans love of the characters and the show itself.”

When Will See Ryan Quan’s Work on Days?

Given how far in advance the show tapes, it will take several months before fans see any of Quan’s new work onscreen.

Let’s see! Ryan Quan started writing at Days of Our Lives back in 2007 when he worked as a writer’s assistant. He worked his way up and held several other positions thereafter, including breakdown writer, dialogue writer, story consultant, and even served as co-head writer from September 2016 to July 2017.

Outside of that, Quan worked at Passions from 1999-2005. He also did a tenure as a breakdown writer at General Hospital.

Quan earned several accolades over the years while working in soaps. He won three Daytime Emmy Awards as a member of the Day writing team. On top of that, he won the Writers Guild Award several times in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
