Days of our Lives shook the table with a reference to “Soap Twitter” in the latest episode on Peacock.

Soap Twitter—a virtual hub where daytime fans dissect, debate, and share all things soaps—is no stranger to strong opinions, good or bad. While no show is safe from their commentary, after today, the real question is: Is Soap Twitter safe from daytime TV?

The clapback had happened on today’s episode after Chanel Dupree-DiMera (Raven Bowens) had a bombshell to drop: this was after confronting her husband, Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) about his hook up with her Body & Soul co-star Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins). Joy spilled some additional tea to Chanel during an impromptu confrontation. Joy told Chanel that Johnny’s father EJ DiMera (Dan Feueffiegel) offered her money to leave town in order to keep the affair a secret but she refused it.

This piping hot tea sent Chanel’s kettle off, and in a rage, she announced to her stepfather, Abe Carver (James Reynolds), and Johnny that she would be quitting Body & Soul. Abe, a producer on the show, tried to convince Chanel to stay in fear of how “a recast” would affect the show, especially “Soap Twitter.” When Abe asked if Chanel or Johnny were familiar with Soap Twitter, Johnny casually responded, “We tend to avoid it.”

This scene left the jaws of Soap Twitter on the floor in amusement. Fans of Soap Twitter enjoyed the show’s unexpected response and celebrated it, referring to it as fun shade. The episode ended with Chanel standing ten toes down on her decision, and fans will have to wait to see if she’ll change her mind or if they’ll receive more “Soap Twitter” references.
