Zach Tinker (Sonny Kiriakis, Days Of Our Lives) is officially
on contract with the soap opera! The
news of Tinker’s contract status was revealed in the credits at the end of the
March 15th episode and Soap Opera Network has confirmed it since.  The role of Sonny Kiriakis was previously
played by Freddie Smith, who was on DOOL from 2011-2020.  He won an Outstanding Younger Actor Daytime Emmy Award for the role in 2015.  Smith got married on New Year’s Eve of 2020
to Alyssa Tait and since then has become a real estate agent and they moved to
Orlando, Florida.  They also co-host
their own podcast: The Freddie & Alyssa Show.

Tinker stepped into the role of Sonny Kiriakis for Peacock’s
Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem and Days Of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas in
2021 and fans have thoroughly enjoyed him in the role.  Tinker first appeared as Sonny on the main
soap opera series on March 10th.
Chandler Massey (Will Horton) returned to DOOL alongside his on-screen
husband.  However, according to an
interview Massey did with Soap Opera Digest, Massey will remain on recurring
status due to balancing his full-time job as a data visualization specialist
for a healthcare analytics company that is located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tinker is not new to the daytime community.  He was on The Young & The Restless as
Fenmore Baldwin in 2018 and he was nominated for the Best Younger Actor Daytime
Emmy Award for the role.

We are delighted to hear that Tinker will be in Salem
long-term and look forward to seeing how he will continue to play Sonny
Kiriakis!
