The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced on August 18 that Daytime Emmy Award-nominated and two-time News & Documentary Emmy Award-winning journalist Deborah Norville will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Honor at the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The event is scheduled to take place on October 17 in Pasadena, California.
With a distinguished career spanning over 45 years, including 30 years as the anchor of Inside Edition, Norville holds the title of the longest-serving female anchor in American television history. During her tenure, Inside Edition rose to become the nation’s top daily newsmagazine and one of the five highest-rated programs in first-run syndication.
Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS, said in a statement released to the press, “It’s an honor to celebrate Deborah Norville’s extraordinary career. Her legacy extends beyond her historic tenure; she’s brought intelligence, integrity, and compassion to her reporting, shaping how millions of viewers understand the world around them.”

Norville was quick to respond to the good news, sharing her feelings about the honor in a personal statement, “When I first walked into a newsroom as a college student, I couldn’t have imagined a journey that would span more than four decades, take me around the globe, and introduce me to so many remarkable people. The Lifetime Achievement Honor is an extraordinary capstone, and I am grateful to NATAS, my colleagues, and the viewers who have welcomed me into their homes for so many years.”
Let’s talk about her amazing career. Norville joined “Inside Edition” back in 1995 after a run at CBS News as an anchor and correspondent. She also served as co-host of NBC’s “Today,” anchor of “NBC News at Sunrise,” host of “Deborah Norville Tonight” on MSNBC, and host of the nationally syndicated “Deborah Norville Show” on the ABC Talk Radio Network.
Her journalism career began at WAGA-TV in Atlanta while still a student at the University of Georgia. This fall, she returns to television as host of “The Perfect Line,” a new syndicated game show from CBS Media Ventures.
Norville is also a bestselling author. Her book, Thank You Power: Making the SCIENCE of Gratitude Work for YOU became a New York Times bestseller and has been published in more than a dozen languages. Congrats, Deborah Norville!
About the Daytime Emmys
The Daytime Emmy® Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, and entertainment news. This year marks the debut of several new categories, including Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series, Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series, and Outstanding Regional Content in a Daytime Genre.
The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held as a single ceremony on October 17, 2025, and is produced by NATAS. Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong serve as executive producers, with Rachel Schwartz as the Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards.
