Felicia Minei Behr, a two-time Daytime Emmy-winning executive producer, died at the age of 83. A post on Facebook by her daughters Kristina Behr Miller and Francesca Behr reads, “We are writing on behalf of our mom, Felicia. She passed away peacefully on March 2nd surrounded by loved ones. We appreciate the love and support you have given our family over the last 5 years as she battled brain cancer.”
Born September 21, 1942, Behr grew up on Long Island and attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Her first job in television was at CBS as a secretary in 1960. She became the first female daytime television producer when she joined All My Children as an associate producer in 1970. As one of the pioneers of daytime Tv, she played an integral part in the launch of AMC.
Her career spanned 3 decades, where she spent the majority of it as Executive Producer of All My Children. Felicia Minei Behr won the show its first Daytime Emmy Award for “Best Drama Series” in 1992 and a second in 1994.
In total, she earned 9 nominations over her tenure. She also served as Executive Producer on Ryan’s Hope and As the World Turns. From 2000 to 2004, she served as Senior Vice President of ABC Daytime, overseeing production of all of the ABC soaps and The View.
