General Hospital has been on fire lately, and this week was no different. The show has been delivering jaw-dropping twists, major plot points, and top-tier performances—one of which came from Daytime Emmy winner Cynthia Watros, aka Nina Reeves.

For the week of April 13-17, Watros has been named the Soap Opera News Performer of the Week. Let’s dive into the drama that earned her the title.

Nina Gets One Shock After the Other on GH

This week, Nina was hit with one bombshell after another. We all know how desperate she’s been to be a part of Willow’s life ever since the life-changing discovery that they were mother and daughter.

Nina has gone above and beyond to prove herself, but this week, that devotion landed her in a devastating predicament.

Willow stooped to a new low, executing a cold-blooded and calculated plan to ensure her mother would have no choice but to stand by her side. To that end, she made Nina an unwitting accomplice to her crimes.

The Truth Hits Nina

Willow pulled a total fast one when she claimed she had to step out and asked Nina to administer Drew’s “medication” while she was gone. Being the devoted mom she is, Nina didn’t think twice. She did exactly what she was told, totally oblivious to the fact that she was walking right into a setup.

The real jaw-dropper came later when Willow finally dropped the act. In a chilling moment, she tearfully admitted to shooting Drew out of pure desperation to keep her kids.

She explained that she initially grabbed Edward’s gun just to scare him off. However, after Judge Heran was murdered, she felt backed into a corner. That’s when she snapped and shot Drew twice in the back.

At first, Nina assumed Willow was so obsessed with “caring” for Drew because she felt guilty that the shooting caused his stroke. Willow was quick to set her straight, though. She revealed she’s actually been keeping him under with a paralytic drug, and confirmed that Jenz Sidwell has been her supplier.

Willow also explained that she is willing to keep drugging Drew until she has enough leverage to stop him from coming after her—the same kind of leverage she now has over Nina.

This is when Willow revealed that the shot Nina administered earlier was not pain medication.

At that moment, everything clicked for Nina. She realized she had been set up.

Willow tried to justify it, saying she didn’t want to use it against her, but she also made the situation crystal clear. Nina now had to choose. Either she stands by Willow, or she risks going down for drugging Drew herself.

Cynthia Watros is the Performer of the Week

It’s a terrible position to be in, especially with everything else Nina has been dealing with. However, Willow pointed out that she had essentially made the choice for her.

It’s been a grueling week for Nina, but it gave Cynthia Watros a brilliant opportunity to shine.

She perfectly captured these gut-wrenching scenes. She brought the shock, the fear, and the heartbreak of a mother caught in an impossible situation.

Watros—who took home a Daytime Emmy in 1998 for her iconic role as Annie Dutton on Guiding Light—continues to prove why she’s one of the best in the business.

Congratulations to Cynthia Watros on a well-deserved win for a powerhouse week!
