Gary James Fuller, who plays James West on General Hospital, is recovering after an accident. Taking to social media, the young actor revealed that a recent mini bike ride ended with a trip to a trauma center, two surgeries, and nearly a week in the hospital.

Despite the scary ordeal, Fuller kept his spirits high, joking about the less-than-stellar hospital cuisine while praising the medical staff who took care of him.

Gary James Fuller’s Accident

“One thing I learned is that hospital food isn’t great, but the nurses are awesome,” he wrote. “Even though it hurt and some parts were pretty scary, I tried to keep smiling and stay positive. There wasn’t much I could do except be brave, crack a few jokes, and focus on getting better.”

Fuller noted that his General Hospital family made sure he never felt alone during his hospital stay.

“One of the coolest parts of all of this was seeing how many people were rooting for me,” he expressed. “My General Hospital family checked in with FaceTime calls, messages, and encouragement. I got so much love from my castmates, casting, wardrobe, my studio teachers, agents, manager, and so many people behind the scenes. It meant a lot to know I had such a big team cheering me on while I recovered.”

Fortunately, the worst is behind him. Now resting comfortably at home, Fuller is focused on getting back to his favorite hobbies—including baseball and racing—as well as heading back to the set.

The Supportive Cast

As for future medical drama? He’s leaving that entirely to his on-screen alter ego. “But just so everyone knows…from now on, I’m going to let James handle the ER storylines,” he concluded.

Since sharing the post, the young actor received an outpouring of love as fans and colleagues flooded the comment section.

Bradford Anderson, who plays Spinelli, said, “Oh Gary!! Glad to see you’re ok and still smiling. Miss you buddy!!”

Meanwhile, Tanisha Harper, aka Jordan, wrote, “Oh my goodness get well soon sweet Gary!”

Sawandi Wilson (Isaiah) chimed in with, “Nooo. Get well soon ! Take it easy.”

We at Soap Opera News are sending Gary our warmest wishes for a speedy and full recovery!
