Spoilers for General Hospital on July 11, 2023: A life hangs in the balance. Marshall opens up to Stella. Nina is horrified. Finn and Liz have a frank talk. Joss is suspicious.
General Hospital Episode Recap July 11, 2023: Joss and Esme Face Off
Stella and Marshall meet for coffee and talk about how much they both miss Irene and the state of things with Curtis and Portia. Stella brings up Epiphnay and gets Marshall to open up about her. He shares that he’s talking to a mental health professional about it. Marshall also shares with her that his doctor agrees with Portia that he was misdiagnosed. They are talking about it when Portia calls to tell them that Curtis has been shot and is going into surgery. They leave quickly to go to the hospital.
At the pool, Anna and Sonny talk about which of them could be the target and why. Nina arrives and Sonny has to tell her that Curtis was shot. He tells her that Curtis was an innocent bystander and she asks if the shooter was trying to finish what they started with him before. Anna and Sonny tell her that they don’t know which of them the shooter was after. Dex updates Sonny about Curtis and he has Frank bring Nina to GH while he stays at the pool in case he can help with the investigation.
After Nina leaves Anna asks Sonny what she meant about someone finishing what they started but he brushes her question off with a vague answer. Anna tells him that she can’t fool her like he did Nina and he tells her that he won’t ask her for a list of who is targetting her and he wants the same courtesy from her. Anna tells him that all of their choices brought them to where they both are and that they both have to always watch their backs. Sonny asks if she would do things differently if she could turn back the clock. She admits that she’s not sure and asks if he would. He tells her about what happened in Nixon Falls and tells her that he’s accepted who he is and that he’s ok with it.
At the park, Liz and Finn talk about what happened and Finn tells her that Epiphany would be proud of how well she did. They both share their fears that it could have been one of them hurt. Finn tells her that what happened taught them that they shouldn’t waste a single second. Liz tells Finn that after Curtis was taken to the hospital all she wanted was to be with him and make sure he was ok. Finn tells her that he felt the same way.
Finn and Liz talk about being able to move on from past mistakes and trying things again. Finn asks if she’s ready to try again and she shoots the same question back at him, both of them smiling. He tells her that he thinks that if they don’t take the chance they may not have another one. She asks if he thinks they can make it work and he tells her that all they can do is try. They kiss and then agree to a dinner date the next night before leaving the park hand in hand.
Joss confronts Esme and Spencer in the parenting class classroom and tells Spencer about Trina needing him because Curtis was shot. He races off and Joss faces off with Esme about what she did to her. Esme tries to apologize and explain that she doesn’t remember anything she did but Joss doesn’t believe her. She tells Esme that she took things from her that she can never get back. Esme asks what Joss wants her to do and Joss tells her to turn herself in.
Joss tells her that she never paid for what she did and that she has to and that she is trying to protect her friend Trina from Esme. She then taunts Esme about her parents and her getting her sociopathy from one of them. They are still arguing when Dex comes in and asks what is going on. Esme asks Dex to give Trina her condolences about Curtis and leaves quickly. Dex asks Joss what happened and she tells him that she saw the old Esme. He is surprised that Esme got under her skin and that doesn’t usually happen. He asks if Esme is faking her amnesia. Joss tells him that she doesn’t know but the old Esme is just waiting to come back out at any time.
Trina wants to know if Curtis could end up paralyzed and Portia tells her that he could but that his being alive is the most important thing. Trina tells her that she trusts her judgement and Portia gives the doctors permission to do the surgery. Spencer arrives to support Trina and they see Curts when he is being taken to surgery. When Stella and Marshall get there, Portia updates them and they all comfort each other the best they can.
Esme comes upstairs and gives Trina her condolences and tells her that she will keep Curtis in her prayers before heading out. She pauses and watches Spencer hug Trina before leaving. Nina arrives and talks to each of them before telling them about when Curtis told her about how much he loved his life. Portia thanks her for sharing the story and Spencer promises Trina that he’s not going anywhere.
