ABC has temporarily paused production on General Hospital and several other shows due to the Omicron Covid variant currently raging across the US.
Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 and The Rookie join GH in the work stoppage.
The decision was made based on an abundance of caution and not because of any on-set outbreaks. All of the shows have been on a holiday break and were set to return to production this week.
As of now the pause is only for one week and is not expected to impact any show’s on-air schedule. Production is expected to resume next week on all sets.
Execs at NBC, CBS, Fox and The CW are taking their shows on a set-by-set basis.
