Spoilers for General Hospital on August 1, 2023:  Dante makes his case. Carly questions Ava. Molly and TJ make a big decision. Kristina receives reassurance. Alexis warns Gregory.

General Hospital Episode Recap August 1, 2023: Laura Gives Cyrus Hell

Anna and Sonny are discussing his involvement with Pikeman when Dante approaches them to talk. He is there with Kristina to buy her a drink after he picked her up when her car broke down. Sonny, Anna, and Dante discuss the shooting and who could be behind it, and which of them was the target. In the bathroom, Trish tells Kristina that Nina was bragging about her new youth center and she thanks her. Trish tells her that she wishes her brother had a place like that to go when their parents kicked him out for being gay. 

Sonny and Kristina talk about Nina bragging about her and Sonny tells her that he wants to buy her a new car so she doesn’t have to worry about breaking down. He offers encouragement about her plans and they share a hug as Kristina thanks him for his support. Dante and Anna talk about the possibility that it’s the WSB targeting her. She thinks that if it is then there is no reason for Dante to stay with her all the time because they won’t try to kill her the same way twice.

Carly and Avery are making cookies when Ava shows up unexpectedly. Avery is upset at the idea of having to leave but Ava tells her that she just wanted a hug. Avery goes to watch a movie with Donna and Carly asks her what is going on. Ava tries to avoid the question but Carly won’t drop it and tells her that she thinks Ava is up to her old tricks. Ava says she is going to take Avery and leave and Carly tells her that if she does she will call Sonny and let him know. Carly thinks there is something going on with the new nanny but Ava refuses to tell her anything.

Alexis meets Gregory in her office and tells him about the call from Tracy. She advises him to tell Chase and Finn what is going on before they find out but he wants to wait a little longer. She promises to keep his secret and he thanks her for her friendship and support and promises that he will tell his sons soon.

Molly tells TJ about her visit with Kristina and her mother and they talk about their fertility situation. They agree that they want to have a child with a surrogate and that they want to use someone from an agency and not Kristina. They decide to move forward immediately and are overjoyed by the idea of having a baby.

Drew continues to do chest compressions on Cyrus while they wait for the prison doctor who is delayed because of a lockdown in another area. Cyrus imagines himself in hell with Laura taunting him about his belonging there. He tries to plead his case that he has changed but she tells him he was too evil and it is too late. He thinks they are alike in a lot of ways and she agrees, saying she has done bad things too. He confides in her that he gave himself up to save her when he had kidnapped her and she tells him that it might not be too late for him if he goes back and really does good things. He comes to and the paramedics take him to GH. The guard compliments Drew for saving Cyrus but takes him to solitary for the fight he had with Book anyway!
