Spoilers for General Hospital on August 4, 2023:  Laura has reason to worry. Liz and Finn have a heart-to-heart. Nina visits Willow. Michael expresses concern. Anna shares what she knows.

General Hospital Episode Recap August 4, 2023: Liz & Finn Look Forward Together

At GH Deanna gives Liz a note from Finn asking if she wants to go to dinner. Liz writes her response down and asks Deanna to give it to Finn when she sees him. Liz gets back to work and Deanna gives Finn the note. In Austin’s office, Ava and Austin discuss Chase’s questions about Gordon’s death and Mason and Sonny’s possible involvement. Liz interrupts them and tells Austin about seeing Dex outside of Austin’s office before he found Gordon’s body.

After Liz leaves, Ava tells Austin that Dex works for Sonny and they talk about what happened with Sonny and Gordon in the alley. He tells her that Dex may have seen Gordon and Mason waiting for him in his office. Ava is frustrated by Austin’s horrible criminal instincts and he is worried when she confesses that she told Sonny that she killed Nikolas and that Austin helped her cover it up. He thinks Sonny will try to kill him and won’t want him around Avery but Ava assures him that isn’t the case. She tells him that all they can do is move forward and then kisses him. After the kiss, she tells him not to mess up and then leaves.

Kristina is shocked to see Michael in Charlie’s after Joss told her she considers it Sonny and Nina’s place. Michael defends his sister and asks how Kristina would feel if Alexis had been in Carly’s place. Kristina blows off the question and says that Sonny loves Nina so who is she to judge. Willow is working on learning how to crochet when Nina stops by for an impromptu visit. Willow tells her that she is looking forward to getting back to her life and getting out into the world again and Nina encourages her to do it.

Nina tells Willow that she wants to get to know her and asks if she will let her. Willow tells her that she is thinking about taking a Mommy and Me class with Amelia and is looking forward to getting her independence back. She tells her that the entire Quartermaine family has been great but she wants to be able to take care of her family and have a life for herself too. 

Nina thinks her plans are great and offers to have dinner delivered from the MetroCourt for them to share if Michael won’t be home to eat with her. Michael walks in before Willow can answer and is surprised to see Nina there. Nina whispers to Willow that she hopes she signs up for the class before leaving quickly. 

Willow and Michael talk about ELQ and Willow’s desire to go back to work. Michael thinks she should take it slowly because of everything that just happened but Willow doesn’t want to wait on living her life. Nina goes to Charlie’s and Kristina thanks her for what she said to Trish about her foundation. Nina raves to Kristina about how much she supports her and thinks what she is doing is wonderful and offers to help in any way she can. 

Kristina tells her that she will accept any help she can get but that Nina doesn’t have to win her over by helping her. She tells her that Sonny’s happiness means everything to her and that Nina makes him happy. Nina thanks her for giving her a chance and Kristina tells her that she is the queen of screw-ups and Sonny always gave her another chance. She says that if he does the same for Nina then she can’t tell him that he’s wrong for it.

Nina tells Kristina about her visit with Willow and what happened when Michael came home. Kristina tells her that Sonny and Michael are exactly the same when it comes to holding a grudge. Willow promises Michael to wait for the all-clear from her doctors but after that, she wants to go back to work. Michael is reluctant to agree with her because of how close they came to losing her. 

Michael wants them to spend time focussing on their family first. He doesn’t want to limit her choices but wants to be able to savor being a family after almost losing her. Willow tells Michael that their family will always come first and they embrace. Kristina tells Nina to not worry about Michael and to just focus on Willow. She tells her that if Michael sees her and Willow getting close that he will soften to her. She says that maybe then he can join her in supporting Sonny and Nina’s marriage and then she won’t be the only one at the wedding.

Kevin and Laura go to Cassadine Island and speak to the house manager. He tells them that he hasn’t seen Nikolas and that the house has been searched by multiple authorities. He leaves them alone and Kevin asks where they should search first. Laura suggests that they search the sub-basement first and Kevin thinks he should do it alone but Laura insists on going with him. 

They search the entire house and don’t find him. Kevin wonders if Victor could have someone else holding him but Laura thinks Victor would have taunted her with it in Greenland. She worries that Nik has just taken off again and abandoned his sons so he doesn’t have to face the consequences of his actions. Kevin wishes there was a way they could let him know it is ok to come home and Laura gets an idea of the next place they should look.

Anna gets home and is happy to find Valentin waiting for her. They greet each other with a passionate kiss. After Anna asks him if he found Nikolas but he wants to talk about who is trying to kill her first. They talk about the shooting and she tells him that the rifle that was used was traced back to the WSB. They agree that the gun could have been sold on the black market but Anna also tells him the theory that someone in the WSB could be trying to kill her.

Valentin isn’t convinced that Victor isn’t behind the whole thing, even from beyond the grave, because of how much he hated her. Valentin talks about all of the reasons Victor hated her and says that if it wasn’t for her he would have been his father’s greatest weapon. Anna thinks that he is giving her too much credit but Valentin disagrees. They express their love to each other and then Anna asks him if he found Nikolas. Valentin tells her that he hasn’t and that makes him the head of the family now before laying her back on the couch and kissing her.

Liz meets Finn at the restaurant and he is blown away by how beautiful she looks. They enjoy their dinner and joke about how nice it is to have no interruptions. They talk about her parents and Liz asks if they are just friends having dinner and Finn says no. He asks if she wants to get into the complications in their relationship and she does so they go over all of them from each side. 

They both admit to being scared and Finn confesses that he had looked into transferring to another hospital because of his fears around their relationship. He tells her that it is hard to be around her and not be with her and she admits to using work to distract her from her feelings for him. They agree that there are a lot of complications that come with a relationship but they are both still there and want to give it a try. Liz tells Finn that she is looking forward to their complications and he agrees. They walk hand in hand to the door, both smiling widely.
