Spoilers for General Hospital on July 20, 2023: Sam plays mediator. Austin is overly confident. Gladys is alarmed. Maxie defends a friend. Esme seeks answers.
General Hospital Episode Recap July 20, 2023: Curtis Can’t Feel His Legs!
Ava and Austin are at the Port Charles Grill when Nina and Sonny arrive for their double date. Sonny pays a lot of attention to Austin while they all talk. A man comes in and wants to talk to Austin about the medical care he received from him. Ava tries to brush him off but Austin says he will talk to him and goes into the back alley with him. Outside, Austin tells Gordon that he can’t just approach him in public like that and that he needs to take his issues to Mason.
Sonny questions Ava about Austin but she changes the subject. In the alley, Gordon tells Austin that Mason owes him money and is ducking him. Austin tells him that it’s not his problem but Gordon tells him that he knows he is working with Mason. Austin tries to walk away and the man threatens to break his arm. Sonny walks up to them and tells Gordan that if he breaks Austin’s arm, he will break him. Gordon backs off and leaves and Austin lies to Sonny about what the man wanted from him. They go back to their lunch and Sonny makes pointed comments to Austin that make him uncomfortable.
At the pool, Sasha continues to hallucinate that Cody is Cyrus and tries to stab him again but is stopped. Maxie tells her that it’s Cody and Sasha realizes who he is and is devastated over what she has done. Cody is rushed to GH and Detective Bennet tells Sasha that she is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Maxie takes him aside and tries to explain and the reporter backs her up. They tell him about Sasha’s history and Maxie shows him the pills she was prescribed. The detective gets a psych consult ordered and has Sasha transported to GH.
Molly and Kristina both say they will leave Sam’s but Sam stops them both and tells them that they have to talk. She tells Molly to talk to Kristina about everything she is feeling and tells Kristina to tell Molly what her intentions were with her offer of surrogacy. They reluctantly started talking and Sam gets a call from Maxie about Cody’s stabbing. She tells them she has to leave and races out and they continue to talk and hash everything out. They end up reconciling and Kristina tells Molly that the offer remains open if she wants it.
Esme arrives at Pentonville to get answers from Heather but Cyrus sits down and starts talking to her before Heather gets there. He tells her that they are similar in that they both did bad things but have changed and are both having a hard time getting people to accept them. He also tells her his connection to Ace but Heather comes over and makes him leave. As she sits down, Heather warns Esme about Cyrus.
Esme tells Heather she is there because she has questions and asks why she gave her up. Heather tries to explain that she thought she was doing the right thing and that as a mother Esme should understand doing anything for your child. Esme tells her that she is raising her son and that she will never give him up. Heather tells her that she did the best that she could but always loved her. She says something that makes Esme thinks she may have killed her adoptive parents but Heather refuses to elaborate.
Marshall and Trina go in to see Curtis first and he tells his father that the first thing he wants is his daughter. He is happy Trina is there and they talk for a few minutes before he tells her to go get something to eat. Once he is alone with his father Curtis tells him about the visit he had from his mother. Sam checks in Cody who had to get stitches but is ok. He is more worried about Sasha and they see her being taken onto the elevator handcuffed to a wheelchair.
Trina and Spencer take a walk and she thanks him for being there. He tells her that he will always be there for her. Esme calls with questions about her adoptive parents but he blows her off and tells her that he’s busy before hanging up. Spencer and Trina hug and hope the bad drama is behind them. Portia updates TJ in the waiting room and they go in when the doctor arrives to conduct tests on Curtis. He does well with the test until it gets to his legs and they realize he can’t feel anything.
