General Hospital is an American daytime soap opera listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running American soap opera in production and the second in American history after Guiding Light. It is also the world’s third longest-running scripted drama series, following British serials The Archers and Coronation Street. Premiering on ABC on April 1, 1963, it holds the record for the most Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series.
