8 years ago, General Hospital was blessed with 3 time Emmy Award-winning talent. Soap legend, Maura West after playing roles such as; Carly on As the World Turns and Diane on The Young and the Restless made her debut as the infamous Ava Jerome on the ABC daytime drama on May 8, 2013. Ava is part of the Jerome crime family who was introduced as a former lover of Franco (Roger Howarth) and mother of Kiki Jerome (then played by Kristen Alderson, now played by Hayley Erin), the missing heiress to the Quartermaine family fortune. Ava later came to Port Charles as an art dealer and was revealed as the unmentioned youngest child of the Jerome crime family which was previously introduced in the late 1980s. Throughout her time in Port Charles, Ava has endured dramatic storylines such as sleeping with her daughter’s boyfriend, cancer, Connie Falconeri’s murder and much more. West’s performance over time met with critical acclaim as she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2015 and was nominated again the same category in 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
