Congrats on a successful run on The Haves and the Have Nots, what was it like being a part of such an amazing show?

Philip: Being a part of the hit show The Haves and Have Nots was truly a blessed experience. I think in any job, the boss sets the tone for how and why the work gets done and Tyler Perry sets the bar pretty high. You can tell from the people he hires, they are part of something bigger. The crew was wonderful to work with. I made some lifelong friends who are very dear to my heart. The work was intense in a short amount of time so I learned how to stay ready. Some days we would shoot around a hundred pages, so as you can imagine, the time would fly by.

How did you learn that your character was being killed off and what was your reaction?
Philip:  I got a phone call from Tyler Perry before we went back to filming. We had a really good talk. He called me up to say that Oscar’s character was initially supposed to be for ten episodes and after forty or so episodes later, he had run out of ideas on how to keep him around. He said that Oscar was going to die, but he didn’t tell me how, so every script I got, I would immediately scan through them and cross my fingers he’d hold on until the end. When I got drugged by Candace, I thought for sure that was going to be it. And then the next script I got, I was getting adrenaline shot into my chest and waking up. So, I got to play some good situations before finally getting pushed out the window.

Is this really it for Oscar or is there more to the story than meets the eye?

Philip: This is truly it for Oscar on the Haves. In the world that Mr. Perry created, everything is changing and no one is safe from being killed off. Unfortunately.

We know you have a couple gigs in the pipeline, can you talk about those?

Philip: Since the end of my filming on the Haves, I’ve been working on various projects that should be coming out in 2018. You can always check my IMDB page and look for projects that are in development and when they will be out in theaters. I’ve mainly just been doing films, and I’ve also been busy writing and creating a television show that I can’t talk about just yet.

Fans have been asking for you to do daytime soaps, what are your thoughts? Any plans to join a daytime soap opera?

Philip: If it were up to me, I would love to do another soap opera. I’ve been talking to one casting director on a soap and he’s looking for a role for me to play. If it’s supposed to happen, it will. I’ll keep you posted.

What would be your ideal soap role? Could you see yourself as a Adam Newman recast on The Young and the Restless?

Philip: Aren’t all soap roles ideal? Charismatic, seems put together, but has a dark past!

You’re celebrating your second wedding anniversary with your wife Polina, any plans for that romantic milestone?

Philip: She’s going to be out of the country, so I’m sure we’ll do something when she gets back.

Do you have a message you’d like to leave with your fans?

Philip: The BEST part of being on the show for so long, was being able to have the fans that we do. I sincerely mean this when I say I will truly miss all the interactions on Tuesday nights through social media. It made my night to get to tweet with people regarding the show. It lifts my spirits every time someone takes the time out of their day to spend watching us on television. I am always so taken aback when someone approaches me and says they’re a fan. I will always take the time for a photo or sign an autograph. To all the fans out there, even if you hated my character, I want to send a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported the show. I put out a video trying to acknowledge that with the fans and I hope one day I can do it again.
