Days of Our Lives fans, get ready for a new face in Salem. The role of Javi Hernandez will not be played by Jacob Martinez. According to Deadline, Martinez is scheduled to make his first appearance on June 30, 2026.
The role was originated by Al Calderon, who first appeared on October 28, 2024. Calderon quickly became a fan favorite, but his departure comes after being tapped for a series regular role on the NBC primetime drama Brilliant Minds. Because of the soap’s advanced production schedule, Calderon will continue to air before Martinez takes over the role.
Martinez Gets Sands in the Hourglass
Jacob Martinez comes to the soap with a deep background in performing arts. A triple threat with a degree in acting, singing, and dancing, Martinez has already built an impressive resume on both the screen and the stage.
Theater fans might recognize him from his role as Grey in the musical In Pieces at Joe’s Pub. Outside of the theater, he has worked with major brands like JCPenney, Target, and Stila Cosmetics. His previous acting credits include projects such as Everywhere the Signs, Another Pucking Fairytale, and the 2023 film Memory Swim.
More Changes Coming to Salem
Martinez joins the Peacock soap during a period of significant casting changes. The series has seen a number of recasts in recent times. His arrival also follows several other high-profile casting shifts. Actors Elia Cantu, Rachel Boyd, Galen Gering, and Peter Porte were recently moved off contract.
Additionally, fans are bracing for the departures of several leading stars. Carson Boatman (Johnny DiMera), Raven Bowens (Chanel Dupree), Leo Howard (Tate Black), and Ashley Puzemis (Holly Jonas) are all reportedly set to exit the series in the coming months.
