CBS‘ upcoming daytime soap opera The Gates has a new title: Beyond the Gates has cast three actors to play prominent members of the fictitious Dupree family. Karla Mosley, Tamara Tunie and Daphne Duplaix join the cast!
Tamara Tunie (As the World Turns) stars as Anita Dupree, the matriarch of the family and a former famous singer. She worked hard for her success, and raised two daughters with her now-retired senator husband. But underneath her glamorous and refined exterior is a fierceness she gained from her humble beginnings in Chicago.
Daphnee Duplaix (One Life to Live/Passions) will play Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, daughter of Anita, who is a high-achieving and competitive philanthropist and psychiatrist, and exudes warmth, empathy and compassion. Nicole’s success in life extends to her marriage to her surgeon husband. She has the perfect life … from the outside.
Karla Mosley (The Bold and the Beautiful/The Young and the Restless) will portray Anita’s other daughter Dani Dupree, who’s a former model turned momager who gave up her career for love. Dani was the family wild child — free-spirited, headstrong and uninhibited, having dropped out of school to pursue a high-flying modeling career.
Formerly known as The Gates, this new CBS Studios/NAACP Venture soap, produced in partnership with P&G Studios, is the first Black one-hour daytime drama on television since Passions in 1999. Set in a Maryland suburb near Washington D.C., it will begin production in Atlanta this fall and premiere on CBS in early 2025. Michele Val Jean serves as creator, executive producer, and showrunner with executive producers Sheila Ducksworth, Robert Guza Jr., Julie Carruthers, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner, and Anna Saalfeld.
