Kelly Monaco, who recently wrapped filming her run as Sam McCall on General Hospital, is speaking her truth. In an Instagram post from Soap Hub about Greg Vaughan supporting her, fans were busy discussing Monaco being fired, and some were even tossing around claims that she refused to take a pay cut. One cheeky user chimed in with, “👏👏👏👏👏👏so what if she was a ‘fan favorite’ she is not that great an actress!! She is monotone, had no primary roles & just boring. 🥱”
Kelly Monaco responded, “‘No primary role’.. do your homework. When Billy Miller was fired, Sam’s storyline stopped. Stripping Sam of every characteristic she had,” she wrote. “Something I worked for decades to build… Slowly dismantling her, into a character that I did not recognize, let alone the audience. Call it what you will… retaliation at it [sic] finest. I will give a proper statement. The truth will set you free.”
This information comes after Monaco made a pledge to tell their story on the one-year anniversary of Billy Miller’s death. Fans, who’ve been cheerleading for the actress, are voicing their opinions and are passionately calling for the show to rehire Monaco. Some of these supportive fans even went all out and gathered cash for a #IStandwithKelly billboard in Times Square!
Monaco’s impressive decades-long career in soaps also includes her run as Livvie Locke/Tess on Port Charles.
