Adrian Anchondo for the win! Anchondo has been named Soap Opera News’s Performer of the Week for his incredible work as Marco Rios on General Hospital during the week of June 30 – July 4.
This week, Marco stepped up in a big way—literally saving Kristina from a raging fire at Charlie’s. But just moments after being a hero, he was hit with devastating news: his mother had overdosed and died. The emotional whiplash was brutal, and Anchondo delivered it all with gut-wrenching honesty.
Watching him dive into the pain, the shock, and the heartbreak—it was raw, real, and absolutely unforgettable. One of the most powerful moments came when Marco walked into that hospital room and saw his mother’s lifeless body. He broke… and so did we.
Earlier, per Lucas’s advice, he had been rushing to see his mom at the Metro Court; however, when he saw the flames at Charlie’s, he ran straight into danger to save Kristina. The choice to stop and help ended up costing him the chance to say goodbye. The weight of that hit hard, and you could feel the pain pouring through the screen.
One line in particular stuck with us: “I was able to save Kristina, but I wasn’t able to save my mother.” Simple, heartbreaking, and delivered with such emotional precision that it cut deep.
Adrian Anchondo brought all of Marco’s devastation to life so flawlessly. He gave a performance that won’t be forgotten any time soon.
Congratulations, Adrian Anchondo, on being named Performer of the Week! (Photo: ABC.)
