Congratulations to General Hospital star Tabyana Ali (Trina Robinson) who has rightly earned this spotlight as the Performer of the Week!
The momentum of General Hospital has not slowed down in 2024. Long-term stories have found their conclusions, cast changes have shocked fans across the globe, and a future led by a new writing duo has reminded waning fans why it’s won the most Emmy awards in the history of Soap Operas.
Years of storytelling came to an end this week on General Hospital, though not in the fictional city of Port Charles. Instead, while enjoying their romantic first days in Paris, Trina and Spencer found themselves with what may turn out to be their final confrontation with Esme Prince.
Esme hunted down her rivals after learning Spencer gave her son Ace to her baby’s father Nikolas. Her first purposeful target ultimately turned out to be Trina as played by Tabyana Ali. Hoping to hoodwink Spencer into being an unwilling helper for her nefarious plans, Esme underestimated Trina and locked her away deep deep in the bowels of Sprina’s private luxury yacht.
Tabyana Ali is the Performer of the Week
Tabyana Ali seamlessly transitioned from ingenue of a Parisian romantic fantasy to take matters into her own hands, reminiscent of stars such as Pam Grier of Jackie Brown. She may not have been walking across 110th Street, but she walked across the deck of the ship and introduced Esme to the heft of a pipe wrench.
From ingenue to action hero, Tabyana Ali was not done giving us her absolute best. When the waters calmed, it was only Trina who remained. Both Spencer and Esme found themselves falling overboard with Trina as a witness and she gave us a moment to remember for years to come.
Filling Thursday and Friday’s episodes with the aftermath of the intensity of the boat ride from hell, Tabyana Ali reminded us exactly why she is the last actor standing of the tumultuous intertwined trio. The grief and resolve of Trina Robinson is clear, it’s tangible. It’s going to be what launches not only Trina to the next level at General Hospital but may very well secure Tabyana Ali as a daytime powerhouse for years to come.
