Robert Gossett opens up about his son Luke’s Suicide
Maurice Benard’s (Sonny Corinthos, General Hospital) YouTube series State of Mind consistently covers poignant topics. In the most recent episode, Benard welcomed his General Hospital co-star Robert Gossett, known for his role as Marshall Ashford.
The gentlemen began the episode by showering each other with praise. Later in the video, Robert Gossett fondly discussed his son, Luke, displaying an evident deep affection as he recounted their history and the nickname “Lukey.” Gossett proudly shared about being the father of two boys, Luke and Caleb, often referring to them as the “three amigos.” He noted that his son was an exceptionally talented writer. Tragically, Gossett’s beloved son, Luke, died by suicide in November 2023 at the age of 24.
Robert Gossett acknowledges that, even now, he struggles to comprehend the reasons behind his son’s tragic decision to take his own life. Despite the family’s efforts to find answers by examining his son’s phone, they have not discovered any clues. Prior to this devastating event, his son had been content. He had spent a year joyfully exploring various parts of the world.
Gossett and Benard delivered a deeply moving interview that once again tugged at our heartstrings.
