Soap Opera News had the extreme pleasure of chatting it up with one of the hottest stars in daytime, Robert Scott Wilson. Before his current success on Days of our Lives, he appeared opposite William Shatner in the film Relic and was a guest on TV shows including The Middle, Melissa and Joey, Suite Life on Deck and more. Wilson set a precedent in 2012 by pioneering on The Price Is Right, as the first permanent male model on the CBS iconic game show. His first soap stint was soon thereafter, when he joined the cast of All My Children (2013) and portrayed Pete Cortlandt.
The next year, he was hired by Days of our Lives as a recast for the role of Ben Weston. “Ben and Ciara” (Victoria Konefal) left Salem to sail around the world in 2022 but Wilson stayed around taking on a brand-new role as Alexander “Alex” Kiriakis.
Alexander “Alex” Neil Kiriakis & The “Who The Baby Daddy” Storyline
We began by asking Wilson how it’s been for him in his newest role. “It’s been fantastic, something brand new with a new set of layers to dive into and peel back. We already knew a good amount about Alex. We understood what kind of guy he was, a little bit bad boy but not too bad. Then boom Alex’s world is turned around!”
“Boom!”, pretty much nails it. And although maternity and paternity storylines are pretty much a staple in soap land, we were curious to know Wilson’s take on this particular paternity storyline. “As an actor, you get the script and you think, ‘Oh my goodness,’ I have to delve into this as an adult, not as a baby or a child. So, when Alex gets news like this as an adult, he believes he may need to adjust the way he moves, thinks, and operates. Plus, these are no small shoes to fill finding out Victor Kiriakis (late, great John Aniston) is your father.
Alex thinks, I am the favorite bastard son that nobody knew about and he left me half of his fortune and the company because he knows what I’m capable of. This gives Alex his armor. He wants to honor Victor and his legacy.”

Justin & Alex
Alex has believed his entire life that Justin (Wally Kurth) was his father. The earth has shifted beneath him for sure, it has shifted underneath Justin as well. We shared with Wilson how our heart breaks for Alex and Justin. And how Alex being “mean” to Justin breaks our soap hearts a bit more. Who doesn’t love Justin?!
“Right!, Who doesn’t love Justin?! Wally and Justin, both of them are the guy. It is a difficult situation. Seemingly Justin may not have known the truth either so you feel for him too. Alex justifies his behavior because he’s got the ultimate chip on his shoulder because he’s been lied to his whole life.
In real life when something bad happens, we want to point the blame at someone for things that are completely out of our control, even though we shouldn’t. In the same way, Alex holds Justin responsible even though he shouldn’t. I do want to preserve the relationship with Alex and Justin because there is something special there. So, I try to play all the beats and viewpoints as authentically as possible.”
The Reveal
The storyline’s foundation has been set and as the story plays out, fans can’t help but think about the reveal. How will the truth come out? What will happen when the “stuff” hits the fan? Wilson couldn’t give specifics, he did however tease “powerful scenes” and “a great payoff” for fans!
“We recently filmed everything coming to a head. These are powerful scenes with a great payoff. We received high praise from members of the cast and crew. When you get to do what you love, get good material to work with and you leave work creatively fulfilled, it is all you can ever hope for. We wanted to do the storyline and the material justice. Wally is the best and Emily (Theresa Donovan) is a rockstar. We have a great team and I can’t say enough about the opportunity to produce good, strong, and deep work.”

Obviously, Theresa and Alex’s relationship isn’t one built on anything like honesty or trust. But this is soap land and couples are known to start relationships in way worse places…So what does the future hold for Theresa and Alex? Is there any real hope for them after the truth comes out?
“It can be tough to really root for them when the relationship is based on a lie. But you also wonder if there’s room for it to change. Maybe when the truth comes out, they can overcome it and build a stronger bond. Will it happen? We have to wait and see. Regardless, you can still root for it, even if it wasn’t pure from the beginning. We can still hope. We can always hope for love.”
Robert Scott Wilson on Ben & Ciara “Cin”
We imagine Ciara is staying as close to Hope (Kristian Alfonso) as possible, keeping vigil with her waiting for Bo to wake up. We asked Wilson to humor us and tell us what he thinks Ben and Ciara are doing now.
“It was a real blessing to play one-half of such a popular couple. Our fans are the best and I am happy we got to give “Cin” their happy ending. I’d like to think Ben and Ciara are doing good, raising their kids, enjoying life, still rocking and doing their thing somewhere in the world. Maybe they’ll guest appear in Salem sooner, rather than later. Who knows.”
Ben & Alex Meet?
It is rare soap air for an actor to be on screen playing two different roles at the same time. Could Wilson join such company?
“I have mentioned this a few times. I would love for Ben and Alex to meet and have a storyline.” He adds, “I welcome the challenge and selfishly would love for me to be able to stretch myself playing dual roles.”

“It’s been a hell of a run. I’m grateful for everybody, whether it be Ben fans, “Cin” fans, Alex fans. I am grateful for everybody who’s been along for the journey, who has had my back and for the unwavering support. It means everything to me. It fills my heart with love and pride. I love what I do but to see other people do too, means a lot. I am going to keep rolling and I appreciate you guys.”
