Soap operas—and the stars who bring them to life—are finally getting their flowers, and rightfully so. This time it’s coming from none other than Ryan Gosling. The Hollywood favorite recently went viral after showing love to the genre during an interview, and now that moment has turned into something even bigger.
While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, Gosling was promoting his latest film, Project Hail Mary, but the conversation took an unexpected turn. He revealed that he grew up watching Days of Our Lives and became a fan of daytime legend Deidre Hall.
Gosling even brought up one of the soap’s most iconic storylines—when Hall’s Marlena Evans was possessed by the devil. That moment alone had everyone talking, but things really took off when Hall caught wind of the interview.
Deidre Hall Extends the Invite
After the clip made the rounds online, Hall responded with a fun and heartfelt video, inviting both Gosling and Horowitz to visit the Days of Our Lives set. It didn’t take long for Gosling to respond—and let’s just say, he didn’t hesitate.
Ryan Gosling Is All In
“Deidre Hall, are you kidding me?” he said. “Yes, this is a very enthusiastic yes to a very cordial invitation to visit you on set. I will be there to thank you in person for being my OG acting inspiration.”
He continued, “It wasn’t Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront. It wasn’t De Niro in Taxi Driver. It was you, and I want to thank you for your offer. Anytime, anywhere, you tell me I’ll be there, and I also want to thank Josh Horowitz for making this happen in some way.”
Gosling added a bit of humor to the moment too: “He’s kind of a magical guy even though he obviously doesn’t know what he doesn’t know, but he knows now—or at least he’s gonna know. So, I’m not worried about the possession. I’ll say a Hail Mary before I get there. I’ll be fine, and I’ll see you on set.”
A Cameo in the Making?
At this point, it’s not even a question of if—it’s more like when. Gosling made it clear he’s ready to show up, and the idea of him stepping into Salem feels like a no-brainer.
And he wouldn’t be the first big name to do it either. Over the years, Days of Our Lives has welcomed some pretty iconic guest stars or cast members, including Dick Van Dyke, Jackée Harry, Marla Gibbs, Tionne Watkins, Betty White, and more
Now, it looks like Gosling could be next in line.
Safe to say, soap fans are here for it—and if this cameo actually happens, it might just be one of the most talked-about moments in recent daytime history. Who would you like to see Ryan appear as?
