Three-time Daytime Emmy Award-winning actor Scott Clifton and his alter ego are front and center again on The Bold and the Beautiful. The story plunges his character, Liam, into an emotional story as he basically gets a “death sentence” from the doctors, who say he has a mass on his brain. The current storyline has viewers speculating if this is the beginning of the end for Liam — which would mean an exit for Clifton, who has been on the show since July 2010.
The online buzz around Clifton’s status has reached a fever pitch, but a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest sheds a bit of light on what lies ahead. In the interview, Clifton notes that he has chosen not to fixate on potential outcomes; instead, he is playing the story as it comes. Clifton noted, “To the fans, I would say, ‘Hey, man, we’re on this trip together! I’m right there with you. I don’t know exactly where this is going’.”
The Rumors
Another rumor that started circulating since his character’s medical emergency is that he could be returning to General Hospital, where he played Dillon Quartermaine from 2003 to 2007. When Soap Opera Digest brought up the subject of the rumor, he confirmed there is no truth to it. “I am not at all thinking about General Hospital or any other show. I’m just thinking about doing the best job I can do telling this story. That is what is important to me. I just want to do right by this show and this story and this storyteller — namely, Brad.”
With that said, could Liam be getting a miracle? Things like these are not strange in soap land. Remember Eric Forrester, who, despite facing a mysterious illness and teetering on the edge of death, was saved by Finn (Tanner Novlan) just in time? Will Liam enjoy the same fate?
