Sean Kanan (Deacon, The Bold and the Beautiful), famous for his portrayal of Mike Barnes in “Karate Kid III”, is using his platform to raise awareness about bullying. Recently, he and his wife Michele Kanan were guests on Lifestyle with Roy Ice. Sean Kanan is not only a well-known bad boy in daytime television and an Emmy Award-winning producer but he is also recognized for his work as the author of “Way of the Cobra” and “Welcome to the Kumite”. He is also an ambassador for the anti-bullying organization, Boo2Bullying. Michele Kanan, his wife, is an Emmy Award-winning producer, writer, and director. During their appearance on Lifestyle with Roy Ice, they discussed how they manage their careers, family, and marriage while also advocating for important causes like anti-bullying.
Kanan shares that he is passionate about working with Boo2Bullying organization because their cause is close to his heart. He reveals that he was severely bullied during his childhood. As part of his work with the organization, he goes into schools and engages in a dialogue with the kids. He explains that there are three groups involved in the issue of bullying – the kids who are bullied, the kids who are the bullies, and the kids who witness it. Kanan brings these kids on stage and initiates a dialogue with them. Prior to his speech, he plays a clip of himself terrorizing Daniel LaRusso and asks the kids if they would believe that the scary guy on the screen was bullied too. The kids’ reaction is usually disbelief.
Later, Sean’s wife, Michele, shares the story of how they met. According to Michele, they were introduced by mutual friends. Michele was introduced as a potential representative for Sean, by her friend. Michele’s friend arranged their meeting, and even though Michele had just left her husband of 20 years, the moment she set eyes on Sean, she knew they were meant to be together. Sean felt the same way. They had lunch together by chance, and their conversation flowed effortlessly. 13 years later, they are still blissfully in love. Watch the full interview below!
