She’s a star! She’s a beauty! She’s a gem and she’s talented. We’re speaking of no other person than three-time Daytime Emmy Award-nominated actress, Colleen Zenk. Most fans know her for her role as Barbara Ryan on As the World Turns. Zenk played the role from 1978 – 2010. It’s no question why she has been a buzz on social media with users fan casting her on The Young and the Restless as a potential love interest for Jack (Peter Bergman). Her years of outstanding work as Barbara Ryan on ATWT is exactly why fans would love to see her back on daytime.
Her character, Barbara Ryan is portrayed as a heroine in the initial stages. She experienced many tragedies, mostly at the hands of her controlling ex-husband and the show’s most popular villain James Stenbeck (Anthony Herrera). After years of being noted as a heroine, the then, new writer (Douglas Marland) decided to give the character a transformation making her a “bitch” of sorts. He had her break up Tom Hughes and Margo Montgomery. This trait for the character proved to be unpopular and hence she reverted to being “good”. With over 32 years on the show, Barbara experienced major life-changing events which included being shot through the heart, nearly being gored by a bull in Spain, being kidnapped 15 times, married 9 times, being burned in a chemical explosion and jumping out of a three-story window. Doesn’t this sound like some of the drama The Young and the Restless needs? Why not bring on a talented lady who is feisty enough to stir the pot?
Should Colleen Zenk join Y&R and possibly become one of the show’s leading ladies and Jack Abbott’s new love interest? Share your thoughts!
