When Steve Burton announced earlier this year that he was taking a break from General Hospital and the role of Jason Morgan, fans were understandably surprised. After all, Jason is currently involved in several major storylines.
Naturally, fans started wondering how Burton’s character would exit the canvas this time around. Some even speculated that the show might kill Jason off again.
While we don’t necessarily know the “how” just yet, we now have a better idea of the “when.”
Steve Burton Teases What’s Ahead for Jason
In a new video posted on the official Stone Cold and Jackal YouTube page, Burton sits down with his GH colleague and real-life friend Bradford Anderson, who plays Damian Spinelli.
The two chat about their recent comedy tour and also share a few updates about their characters on General Hospital.
Anderson talks about the moment Maxie (Kirsten Storms) chose Spinelli, while Burton touches on the latest developments involving Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud).
Naturally, Burton couldn’t reveal too much about what’s coming up.
At least not yet.
Still, he did tease that things are about to get interesting.
“It’s going to get very interesting,” Burton said.
He added, “There’s going to be a lot happening. There’s going to be a couple of things. Things that are going to either be like, whoa, and then what?”
Burton also hinted that the upcoming story beats will be exciting for fans.
“It’s going to be fun. Yeah, it’s going to be fun,” he said. “I can’t wait to actually talk about it.”
When will Burton be off-screen on GH?
During the conversation, Burton confirmed that he will be off-screen starting sometime this month.
“We still got till, you know, I air I believe, until the end of March somewhere in there,” he shared.
The good news for fans is that Burton won’t be gone for long. He is expected to return to the show sometime this summer.
Back in February, Burton explained his temporary exit in a message to fans. He wrote, “Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from @generalhospitalabc. I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer.“
For now, fans can still watch Burton on screen as Jason Morgan through the end of the month.
And based on Burton’s hints, it sounds like there could be some major moments ahead before he and Jason temporarily step away.
