Twitter was buzzing earlier today when news leaked that Sydney Mikayla (Trina Robinson, General Hospital) is leaving the show.
Soap Opera Digest recently confirmed the news. Mikayla is currently a freshman at UCLA and has decided to leave General Hospital in order to focus on her academic career and get the opportunity to fully enjoy the college experience. Frank Valentini (Executive Producer of GH) stated, “Sydney asked to leave in order to focus on college. We love her and are sad to see her go, but of course support her decision and wish her the best.”.
Mikayla joined General Hospital in 2019 as the fierce, intelligent, funny, beautiful, charismatic Trina Robinson. Mikayla’s immense talent and shining personality made Trina a character that fans love, adore, and root for. Robinson’s undeniable chemistry with Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) has made Sprina one of General Hospital’s top current favorite couples.
Mikayla stated to Digest, “I have loved working on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but I feel like this is the right time to dive in and enjoy my college experience to the fullest. The cast has become family and bringing the character of Trina to life has been one of the best experiences of my career thus far. Thank you to Frank and the entire team for believing in me and giving me this wonderful opportunity. I will miss working with everyone every day, but I am excited to see what is to come for the show”.
Mikayla’s last air date will be March 17th.
