Daytime veteran and The Bay fan favorite, Patrika Darbo’s recent Emmy Award win as Best Guest Performer in a Digital Drama has been revoked after discrepancy. Gregori Martin, The Bay’s creator spoke of the situation and noted, “We are saddened to hear that despite the Daytime Emmy judges voting in Patrika Darbo’s favor this year, due to a discrepancy in her Emmy submission reel, the Awards committee at NATAS has decided to revoke her Emmy statue. The digital category is a growing category at the Daytime Emmys and rules are constantly being updated or changed. Our post team missed a “footnote” above the submission details that a Guest Star could not have appeared in a previous season, which means her Emmy submission was miscategorized this year. This has never occurred before and I will personally take responsibility and double check the Daytime Emmy rule book and submission tapes moving forward to make sure something like this does not occur again. Patrika is a stellar actress and is still a winner in our eyes, but we respect NATAS’ decision to revoke her Daytime Emmy due to this submission discrepancy. We are also pleased that NATAS has discovered and concluded that there were no other discrepancies or violations in any other submission reels submitted by The Bay or any other shows this year. Our shows other 5 Daytime Emmy wins this year were won fair and square based on delivery and performance and we are very pleased and proud of those Emmy wins. It’s unfortunate that this had been put into question in the first place, and innocent and deserving actors might have been affected due to the “questioning.” However, we are grateful that the awards committee has determined that there were no other violations and the correct decisions were made. For the most part, the digital programs have been an ethical and supportive community to one another and despite what has occurred, we hope it remains that way moving forward. We are happy to put this all behind us.“
