It’s been a hot minute since The Young and the Restless mentioned Colin Atkinson (played by Tristan Rogers), so when his son Cane Ashby (now being played by Billy Flynn) revealed in the June 23 episode that Colin had died offscreen, no less—it definitely came as a shocker.
If you’re scratching your head trying to remember the last time Colin showed up, the con artist and schemer last appeared on-screen back in November 2019. He vanished after his usual shady dealings, and it seemed like the door was left open for a possible return. But now? It looks like that door may have quietly closed.
Cane Says His Father Died in Y&R June 23
During a one-on-one chat with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Cane explained that he’s now a wealthy billionaire, but he didn’t get there alone. Surprisingly, the man who helped him reach this level of success was none other than his father, Colin. Cane revealed that Colin was diagnosed with a serious illness six years ago, and this led Colin to make amends with Cane and build a legitimate fortune.
The two started investing, beginning with the sale of Colin’s land and eventually diving into cryptocurrency. Over time, their savvy (and legal) investments paid off, and Cane ended up living the kind of successful life his father always wanted… only without the cons and lies.
Then came the shocking news: Colin passed away six months ago. Luckily, Cane was there by his side in the end.
So… how do The Young and the Restless fans feel about Colin Atkinson being killed off-screen, as revealed in the June 23 episode? (Then again, this is a soap, so we all know “dead” doesn’t always mean gone forever.)
