Today on The Bold and the Beautiful, September 5: Ridge is conflicted and haunted by his father Eric’s words. Eric remains skeptical when he and his grandson Thomas have a conversation about his parents and Brooke.
B&B Recap September 5: Taylor Is Excited About the Wedding
Taylor raises her glass for a toast, smiling warmly. She wants to celebrate them and the future ahead. Ridge glances around the room, clearly impressed with how she’s transformed the space.
She tells him it’s a big deal: their engagement and the upcoming wedding. Choosing a day to start their life together is something special, and she wants to make sure it feels that way.
Later, Taylor tells Ridge she’s ordered pepper steak for dinner, knowing it’s his favorite. She smiles, saying she remembers what he likes and what he needs—including his happiness and his future.
Taylor later tells Ridge how relieved she is that Thomas came home. She says he needed this—being surrounded by family. Taylor believes the whole Paris proposal was Thomas trying to find stability, but this is where he belongs.
She feels like this wedding is a beautiful way to show their kids that their family is whole again. Despite all the heartbreak they’ve endured, including the tragedy of losing Phoebe, this moment feels like a new beginning.
Ridge Breaks Taylor’s Heart
Taylor quietly tells Ridge that their love has always pulled them back to each other. She thinks of Stephanie and remembers how she was their biggest supporter.
Even with her help, things didn’t always work out, but love always brought them back. Taylor says that if it weren’t for her health scare, she might never have realized how much she still loved Ridge.
But now, she’s ready. She wants to move forward. She tells him they don’t even need to look at a calendar. They could get married tomorrow.
Later, music begins to play. Taylor suggests they dance. Ridge takes her in his arms, and she tells him how good it feels. She says they don’t need a big wedding, and they have nothing to prove to anyone. Ridge jokes, saying she just doesn’t want a big wedding because of his two left feet.
But as they sway together, something shifts in Ridge. He remembers Eric’s words, the moment he rescued Brooke from the water, and kissing her. The memories flood in. Taylor notices the change and asks what’s wrong.
Ridge tells her he loves her—everything about her. He appreciates every moment they’ve spent together. She’s helped him through some of his darkest days. Her strength, her resilience, her spirit—it’s all part of why he loves her.
But then, his voice grows heavy. Ridge says he never meant to hurt her, and the thought of breaking her heart again is unbearable. He looks into her eyes and says he can’t do it. He can’t set a date. “I can’t marry you,” he says.
Thomas Begs Eric to Support Taylor

Thomas finds Eric in the CEO office, sketching designs. He tells Eric he loves it, and Eric is genuinely happy to see him, pulling him in for a hug.
Eric mentions how good his return is for Ridge and Taylor. Thomas says that’s exactly why he came. He’s excited about the engagement and can’t wait to see his parents finally walk down the aisle and get married.
Eric agrees, saying every parent should be so lucky to have that kind of support from their kids. Thomas reflects that he and Steffy always wanted their parents back together when they were young.
Back then, it was about what they wanted, but now it’s about what Ridge and Taylor want. He believes this is good for them, that they truly love each other.
He says he’s not going to let anyone or anything stop this from happening. Eric reminds him gently that it’s not his responsibility. He has his own life and his own priorities—especially Douglas.
Thomas nods and shares that Douglas is busy and that he and Paris called off the engagement. He was surprised, but okay with it. All of this has Thomas thinking a lot about family and how much he needs his.
Thomas and Eric continue their conversation. Thomas says Taylor and Ridge have a love that’s never really gone away, even through all their time apart.
He’s excited to see them married and believes there’s only one person who could get in the way—and that’s Brooke.
Eric reflects on how all he’s ever wanted is what’s best for his children and grandchildren. Happiness—that’s it. Thomas asks him if that includes his mother. Eric doesn’t hesitate. Of course it does. She deserves it as much as anyone. But you can tell he is still supporting Brooke more.
Thomas Confronts Brooke with a Warning
In the design office at Forrester, Brooke is distracted, eyes glued to her phone. Katie notices and half-jokes about taking it from her.
Brooke apologizes, but Katie brushes it off, saying they can go over everything later.
Still, she notices the worry on Brooke’s face. Brooke admits she texted Ridge but hasn’t heard back, which makes Katie wonder if he’s with Taylor.
Katie encourages Brooke not to stress too much. She reminds her to allow herself to be human. She notices that Thomas showed up right as Taylor started planning the wedding date and can’t help but wonder if that’s just a coincidence.
Katie reminds Brooke that Thomas does have a past. He’s done sneaky things before. Brooke knows he had a tough childhood and that he’s shown regret. And he is Ridge’s son. She wants to believe he’s coming from a good place and that he just wants to see his parents happy.
Brooke tells Katie she’s still holding onto hope. She truly believes Ridge will come back to her. She’s just waiting for the engagement with Taylor to end.
Thomas walks in, and Katie asks how he’s doing. He says he’s fine, then announces that Ridge and Taylor are choosing their wedding date. His mom has waited a long time for this, and they’re excited.
He says he doesn’t expect Brooke to feel the same way, but he does expect her to respect it. He asks her not to interfere, not this time. Ridge is choosing Taylor, and he asks Brooke to let them be happy.
