With the Daytime Emmys coming up we thought it would be great to recognize some of your and our personal favorite moments from the award show history. From groundbreaking events to hilarious moments, check out who made our list. And be sure not to miss the 2020 Daytime Emmys when they make their primetime return on Friday, June 26.

It’s safe to say that this future The Bold and the Beautiful star was shocked by his first Daytime Emmy win!
12. Mary Beth Evans First Lead Actress Win
After nearly three decades since her Days of Our Lives debut, Mary Beth Evans won her first Emmy for Lead Actress for her role as Kayla Brady. We also love how the cast was so excited for her including her on-screen love, Stephen Nichols.
11. Erika Slezak’s Record-Breaking Win
In 2005, One Life to Live’s Erika Slezak was honored with her record-breaking sixth Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress as she beat out an incredible list of seven other nominees.

10. Ellen Parker’s Last Hurrah
When Guiding Light made the decision to kill off the beloved character of Maureen Bauer fans were left devastated. Actress Ellen Parker, however, took the opportunity to turn in some of her best work – and in our humble opinion some of the best ever. Parker’s performance earned her the parting gift of her only Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
9. Camryn Grimes Heartwarming Win
In 2000, this Y&R favorite made the history books becoming the youngest winner of the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress at the age of 10. Her shock and nervousness were endearing as she thanked the people who got her there.
8. 2004 Lifetime Achievement Ceremony
At the 31st Daytime Emmys, ten veterans of the soap genre were honored with lifetime achievement awards for their many years of work. Honorees included Rachel Ames, John Clarke, Jeanne Cooper, Eileen Fulton, Don Hastings, Anna Lee, Ray MacDonnell, Frances Reid, Helen Wagner, and Ruth Warrick.
7. Bill & Susan Seaforth Hayes’ Lifetime Achievement Speech
In 2018, reel and real couple Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes were selected as the years’ lifetime achievement honorees. The two delivered what has been deemed an epic speech about their careers, the state of daytime, and much more.
6. Genie Francis Wins Three Decades After Her Debut
It’s hard to believe that it took Genie Francis, who is arguably one of the greatest daytime actresses, thirty-one years to win her first Daytime Emmy. It was amazing to see this star finally receive something she had worked more than half her life for.
5. Kim Zimmer: Big Hair & Missing Shoes
Guiding Light’s Kim Zimmer was so excited by her first win for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1985 that her shoes went flying as she took the stage.
4. Michael Zaslow & Linda Dano’s Long-Awaited Recognition
These two incredible actors make our list for finally receiving their first Emmys after years of never being recognized. Zaslow was honored in 1994 and Dano in 1993. Both of them delivered wonderful and grateful speeches as the crowd and fans cheered.
3. Jonathan Jackson’s Emotional Win
Jonathan Jackson made his name as Lucky Spencer on General Hospital. He has an incredible three wins in the Outstanding Younger Actor category the first coming in 1995. The young star was overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude as he took the stage to accept his award.
2. Debbi Morgan Makes History
All My Children’s Debbi Morgan made history when she became the first black actress to win the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1989. Her name is also in the history book for becoming the first woman of color to be nominated for Lead Actress – 35 years after the award show began.
And our number one pick is….
Susan Lucci’s Broken Streak!
Was there any doubt who would take the number one spot?! For years, we all wondered if one of Daytime’s most recognizable names would ever win. Then on her 19th nomination, we all heard Shemar Moore yell out “the streak is over, Susan Lucci!”
