This past weekend, Amanda Setton, who plays Brook Lynn Quartermaine on General Hospital, and Wally Kurth, who plays her father, Ned Ashton Quartermaine, had a Zoom event for fans.
During the event, Setton was asked if she was a singer like her character used to be before Nelle Benson, played by Chloe Lanier, slit her throat, and Setton replied, “Yeah, I do sing, but I don’t professionally sing, and I’ve said to Wally and Josh (Swickward, Harrison Chase) and this other great girl who is on the show right now who plays the role of Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and has an amazing voice and stage presence, she is like a firecracker, she is amazing. You have to have a real confidence, and if it’s just us, or we’re in a studio, I could definitely sing.”
She went on to add, “But I do think there’s a different level of command over the material and over the craft that one needs to have,” she continued, “and a comfort that I don’t know that I possess. Brook Lynn is such a badass and such a confident woman, I wouldn’t want to do her a disservice, so it just kind of worked out…the storyline, how it’s going. If there’s an opportunity where her vocal cords magically heal, which I’m sure in General Hospital-land, anything’s possible, then we’ll see what happens, but for right now, I am grateful in that sense that it’s not the end all, be all for Brook Lynn, is her voice. I can play badass pretty well. I don’t know that I could play badass singer so great.”
To the delight of the fans in attendance, Kurth cut in, saying “If I have anything to do with it, we’ll be singing together at a Nurse’s Ball in the future.”
