A once-thriving genre is thriving again—Thanks, Beyond the Gates! The daytime television programming block has expanded and the success is BEYOND words can say.

For a period, many thought that soaps were a fading genre. With a lineup that filled the daytime schedules and then went down to three (four with Days of our Lives streaming on Peacock), we could see why. But now, Beyond the Gates is shattering that assumption. This new soap brings binge-worthy, edge-of-your-seat soapy drama, cliffhangers, and jaw-dropping twists back into the spotlight, and it keeps the viewers talking!

Beyond the Gates takes the usual soap opera formula of tangled romances, long-buried secrets, affairs, etc., and flips it a bit. With the emotionally complex storylines, the show has proven that when done right, soap operas can be just as addictive as they’ve been.

Beyond the Gates not only delivers breathtaking fashion and opulent sets, but the show is filled with a few veteran soap actors and while the majority of the cast are new to the genre, the show got it right in the casting department. CBS got it right too; the ratings prove that.

While we’re sure things are just getting started, the last few episodes of the show allowed these actors to delve into their acting chops, and they did not disappoint.

The Last Few Episodes

The last few episodes were a masterclass. The writing! The Directing! The acting! Whether it’s forbidden love, buried secrets, or power struggles, the stories are elevated as the actors flawlessly bring the drama to life. Crazy Leslie? Torn Eva? Teddy Weddy? Anita Dupree? Vernon? Statesman Martin? Dani Diva? Nicole? Kat? Naomi? Twisted Bill? Chelsea? Just to name a few.

If Beyond the Gates proves anything, it’s that the soap opera genre was never really dead. This is what we’re talking about. You are doing it and you are doing it right.

So if you haven’t watched yet, get your popcorn because you’re about to be hooked — your one episode is promised to turn into five and Beyond. It’s safe to say soap operas are alive and thriving. Thank you, Beyond the Gates!
