That’s a wrap for Adrian Anchondo and the role of Marco Rios on General Hospital. The actor, who just celebrated his one-year anniversary with the show, penned a lengthy goodbye message on his Instagram account.

Taking to the account with a carousel of behind-the-scenes snaps, Anchondo wrote, “I started this journey with a story about my mother, how she was with me in spirit at my screen test for Marco, hiding in the compact she used to do her makeup in while she watched soap operas on the couch.”

He added, “Now, I know she is looking down and proud of me for all the work I’ve done in the past year on one of the best shows ever created. She is proud of me for showing up every day and leading with kindness and respect, for fighting through my insecurities and anxiety, and for letting my heart shine through a character that had questionable intentions.”

Of course, he looks back at his time and the memorable scenes he’s had on the ABC daytime drama. “I’m also proud of myself for doing the work, for representing the LGBTQI and Latino community, and for constantly recognizing the magic that every single person on the show creates,” he said.

What Happened to Marco?

This month, Marco did everything in his power to obtain those vials of Britt’s medication to save her life. However, that risky move put him in danger as Cullum tracked him down and stabbed him multiple times.

As Alexis and Danny discovered him gasping for breath and bleeding out on the floor at the Miller & Davis Law Firm, they called for help. Marco was rushed to the hospital, where Dr. Isaiah Gannon operated and did his best to keep him alive.

However, Marco’s death was later confirmed in a scene where Elizabeth relayed the devastating news to Lucas.

Naturally, fans are sad, and so is Anchondo, but he knows this is how the business works. “I know fans are sad (believe me I’m still grieving) but I’m just one small piece in a much bigger picture,” he noted.

Additionally, Anchondo said, “This isn’t about me, it’s about what’s best for the story. I can’t believe the amount of love I’ve received especially in the last few days. I hope I made you proud. To my queer fans, don’t be discouraged, we will keep spreading our love and fighting for that happy ending.”

The Thank Yous

He couldn’t end his post without sharing his gratitude for those who contributed along the way. “Thank you @generalhospitalabc and @abc@disney for making a dream come true. Thank you @markteschner for seeing something in me and Frank Valentini and the Directors for bringing that something out of me. You changed my life and I will be forever grateful.”

Anchondo also shared appreciation for the cast and his real-life love, Colton Little (Andrew, Days of Our Lives), who has been by his side, running lines, hyping him up, and holding him through the sad parts.

“Thank you to my Grandma and cousins for cheering me on. Thank you to the amazing cast especially @nancyleegrahn for your wisdom and kindness @carlodanterota for your support, guidance and friendship, and of course to my amazing friend @van.hansis for holding my hand in more ways than one- you made it easy to fall in love with you.”

In closing, he wrote, “That’s a wrap on Marco! I hope everyone loved him as much as I did. We went out with a bang. On to the next big thing.”

We wish this talented man nothing but the best. We look forward to seeing what Adrian Anchondo does next. So, what do you think about his run on General Hospital?

  1. I think he was fabulous as Marco. How i wanted him to survive and to eventually find out that his father had his mother killed, not Sonny. I loved how he changed for Lucas and the sacrifice he did for Britt. I was sorry that he was the one they chose to die. I was hoping cullem,Pascal and Siddell would find their end not u. Good luck in your next endeavor. I will miss u,u were Fabulous in the role

  2. They shouldn’t have killed him off. Leave him in a medically induced coma. Let sidwell suffer for a while. Let Marco help take him down.
