If you were terrified that the deadly warehouse raid meant the end of the line for Jacob Hawthorne—or that actor Jibre Hordges was leaving Beyond the Gates—you can officially take a deep breath. There is absolutely no need to worry. Hordges and his alter ego are staying right where they belong.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his on-screen bestie. Derek Baldwin met an ugly fate during the chaotic plasma ring showdown. The character was killed off, which means actor Ben Gavin has exited the daytime drama for good.
Jibre Hordges Breaks His Silence on Instagram
Taking to Instagram right after the dramatic and heartbreaking episodes aired, Hordges penned a special message to his fans. He wanted to clear up any confusion about his status with the CBS soap opera.
“For those that thought Jacob wouldn’t make it, or that I was leaving the show: we’re both here to stay! #JFORCE had faith in me the whole time though,” Hordges wrote.
He didn’t stop there. He went on to ask the audience for their thoughts on the huge narrative twist. “What y’all think about how everything turned out? Happy Jacob can finally go back home to Naomi? He took down the DMV ring but unfortunately lost his best friend Derek in the process. S/O to @benjamingavin . Will forever miss your character bro.”
Hordges wrapped up his heartfelt post by thanking the viewers for their incredible support during this high-stakes week. “This week’s episodes have been on fire and y’all have been locked in! As always, thank you for all the love and keep tuning into @beyondthegatescbs.”
The Beyond the Gates Cast Floods the Comments
As soon as the post went live, several of his colleagues and co-stars immediately flooded the comment section to show some love.
Lami, who plays Jacob’s on-screen brother Izaiah Hawthorne, brought a little humor to the tragedy. “Dawg for a sec I thought I was gon have to pull up and back u up in that warehouse,” he joked.
Jaden Lucas Miller, who plays Tyrell Richardson-Smith, cheered his co-star on, writing, “Killing it bro, Rashad.” Meanwhile, Donny Carrington, the actor behind Ren, added, “Damn I knew you were.”
Even the legendary rapper Rah Digga, who is apparently a huge fan of the daytime drama, couldn’t resist weighing in. “I knew it wasn’t gonna be you. But we still need to find the Impaler!!” she commented.
