Kat (Colby Nixon) and Martin (Brandon Claybon) have that classic brother-sister relationship—lovely one minute, and a total disaster the next. They get along when they want to, but the latest Beyond the Gates promo proves that when they clash, they don’t hold back. The two end up in a heated confrontation, trading some pretty terrible names that would make any parent cringe.
A United Front for Nicole and Ted
Despite their constant bickering, the siblings are actually putting their heads together for a surprising cause: their parents’ anniversary. Even though Nicole (Daphnee Duplaix) and Ted (Keith D. Robinson) are divorced, Kat and Martin are determined to help them mark the occasion.
As for the parents themselves, Nicole and Ted are spending the day reflecting on the past. Things might have ended on a rocky note for them, but they still share years of special memories—and their kids are living proof of the good times they had.
Vernon Takes a Stand
Meanwhile, Vernon (Clifton Davis) is definitely not losing any sleep over being the “nice guy.” He’s beyond frustrated to learn that Martin is indebted to Joey (Jon Lindstrom), the town’s notorious bad boy. Fearing for his grandson’s safety, Vernon decides to handle the problem personally.
In a bold power move, he redirects Martin’s debt onto himself and gives Joey a very stern warning: “Leave my grandson alone.” Taking on a guy like Joey is a massive risk, and we’ll have to see if Vernon’s protective instincts have landed him in over his head.
Checking Feelings and Searching for the Missing
Looking ahead to the May 1 episode, Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett). She puts him in check regarding his lingering feelings for Dani (Karla Mosley). Meanwhile, the mystery of the missing Lynette (Dominique Madison) continues to loom over the town. Tomas (Alex Alegria) provides a much-anticipated update on the search, but will it bring answers or just more questions?
