Maggie and Sarah are at The Brady Pub when Maggie receives a text from Philip. He and Xander are waiting at the mansion, hoping the inspector gets disgusted by what he sees so they can save the property.
During their wait, Maggie asks Sarah if she told Brady that she is moving back into the mansion. Sarah promises she will, but notes that now isn’t a good time given everything going on with Rachel.
When Maggie asks about the lawsuit, Sarah shares some good news. Johnny gave a statement to the police that proves EJ set her up. However, there is still one major hurdle: EJ and the head of DiMera Pharma denied every allegation. So now, it’s just Johnny’s word against theirs.
The Mansion is Saved
Meanwhile at the mansion, Philip and Xander try to stay positive while hoping Marino decides against the purchase. Hank Garrison, the inspector, arrives and introduces himself. After looking around, Hank admits he expected the place to look much worse based on the reported issues. In fact, he doubts they have much to worry about based on his initial walkthrough.
As Hank inspects the property, Philip and Xander panic because the pet shop rats they brought in are apparently “asleep” and nowhere to be found. They bring up the rat problem to Hank anyway, but he dismisses it. He notes that a standard exterminator can easily handle it.
Eventually, Hank catches on to their scheme. “You two have been trying to sabotage this inspection,” he points out.
Later, Philip and Xander head to The Brady Pub to update Kate, Roman, Maggie, and Sarah. Xander admits the pet shop rats were a total mistake. However, after getting caught in the lie, the two brothers explained to Hank just how much the mansion means to their family. Their honesty worked, and they managed to get Hank on their side.
Shortly after, Maggie gets a text from Dominic’s broker stating that he wants out of the contract. The family celebrates the good news, and Xander spins Sarah around in a giant hug.
Chad Confronts EJ Over a DiMera Bombshell
Over at the DiMera mansion, Chad confronts EJ. “What the hell is the matter with you?” he asks. He wants to know why EJ pulled such a shady move to protect himself, especially now that at least two people are dead.
EJ claims that Johnny’s statement to the police has nothing to do with him. He insists he is just as appalled as Chad is by George’s actions. EJ claims George is trying to frame him. EJ adds that he has no idea why his own son would make such baseless accusations against him.
“I’m heartbroken that my son would betray me this way,” he says.
Chad points out that their father, Stefano, would never want this. However, EJ warns him not to pretend he knows what their father wanted. In fact, EJ admits he is beginning to wonder if any of them truly knew him at all.
Chad counters that EJ always bragged about knowing Stefano better than anyone else. “What changed?” he demands.
At that point, EJ reveals a big secret: he recently learned that the mysterious Dominic Marino may share their blood. “That, he in fact, may be our brother,” he reveals.
EJ explains that a birth certificate exists naming the esteemed Dr. Marlena Evans as Dominic’s mother. He tried to get answers from Rita, but she claims to know nothing about it. EJ notes there has been a seismic shift since the reading of the will. “If the rumors of Dominic’s parentage are true, where the hell does that leave the rest of us?” he asks.
Chad then notices another key detail: EJ isn’t wearing their father’s ring. EJ believes Rita took it because Stefano asked her to. He suspects Stefano set the entire situation up so Dominic can make a grand entrance. Either way, EJ insists they must be fully prepared whenever he finally shows up.
