After the August 8th episode of Days of our Lives, viewers were left with the question of whether Emily O’Brien has indeed left her role as Theresa Donovan on the show. Now comes confirmation.
Recounting of her last day on set, O’Brien tells Soap Opera Digest, “This is the announcement I made, actually, when I left. I was in tears, and I faced everybody on stage and I looked at the cameras. Then I just told everyone how incredibly lucky I am. I wasn’t supposed to be on the show for as long as I was. I never thought that daytime would be something that was accessible to me again. And I not only got to play one amazing role, but I played two amazing roles.”
Emily O’Brien first joined Days of our Lives as Gwen Rizczech in 2020 but in October 2023 as she wrapped up playing that role, the same day she debuted in the role of Theresa Donovan, last played by Jen Lilly. Now, O’Brien is now bidding farewell to the show once more, as Theresa was sent off to Statesville.
With having the door left open for her two characters to return someday, SOD teases, “And from what Digest hears, it’s likely that this will not truly be the last we see of O’Brien.”
